“East Muntloch Croft B & B - great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

Unfortunately East Muntloch Croft could be easily overlooked if you are trying to track down good places to stay on the Mull of Galloway. In preparing for this review I tried various entries in Trip Advisor including Drummore, Mull of Galloway and "East Muntloch Croft" but could only gain access to the TA entry via the B & B's own website which of course I know about having recently stayed there. This is a shame because East Munloch Croft is a great place to stay and excellent value for money. If possible book the front room: this is almost like a suite with two very comfortable arm chairs in the bay window overlooking a splendid panorama towards the Mull of Galloway lighthouse - Scotlands "Lands End". Coupled with a great breakfast and the kind and attentive service offered by Diane and John this is the sort of place one feels really fortunate to have found. A trip to this part of Scotland is immensely worthwhile and you could not find a better place to stay - at a price which must be regarded as a bargain. The only down side is that the proprietors do not do an evening meal and the choice of eating places in the vicinity is limited. However a good meal can be had at the Gallie Craig cafe at the Lighthouse but they close at 5.30 and after the huge breakfast you will have enjoyed you won't be able to do justice to their meals much earlier in the day -see my separate review!

Room Tip: There are only two - go for the front (double and single) if possible

Thank you so much for the great review for East Muntloch Croft Bed & Breakfast.

We do have a lot of lovely eating places within 2 miles from our B & B in Drummore, we have Clashwhannon Caravan Park - excellent food and good price, Queens Hotel in Drummore - good food, Mariners Cafe - fresh fish - excellent and also a Thai Restaurant in the Ship Inn. Within 15 minutes drive there is a beautiful restaurant - Tigh na Mara, Sandhead, and lots more all within 25 minutes drive from our house.

A wonderful, charming cottage with everything one could ever need. Great reception from Diane who helped us in finding suitable visits in the area. Warm, peaceful place to come back to after a day out. Highly Recommended.

We had a fortnight at the start of August in this lovely cottage, and it was just what we wanted. Well-appointed, comfortable and surprisingly homely. Anybody who sets out for the Rhins of Galloway will expect a vista of gently hilly country set about with cliffs and sea views - so being able to enjoy it from the conservatory is a bonus! The famous lighthouse cannot be seen from downstairs, but can be seen whilst lying in bed, which is an amusing twist. Our favourite beach was at Drummore, with a delightful coastal walk to Cailiness Point and Maryport Bay. Our dogs loved it. All the star attractions of the Rhins are easily accessible from here and we hope to return to enjoy the famous gardens at a different time of year in future. In our experience, true hospitality from the owners of holiday cottages is rare, so the Gilmores should be congratulated for their personal welcome.

We have just returned from a week in this beautiful cottage. It was everything we hoped for and more. The cottage is a lot bigger than it looked in the pictures. It has a very well equipped kitchen (even with a blender) and the views from the conservatory are amazing, you can watch cows and sheep as well as birds and red deer, and there are views out to sea and across to the isle of man.

The cottage is secluded at there isn't much traffic noise only the odd car or tractor going to the mull and you're more likely to be disturbed by the cows mooing which is infrequent but lovely.

It's worth noting that the cottage doesn't have a DVD player but you can easily take your own and set it up if you want to.

All in all it was a wonderful week and we will try and go back in October.

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our recent week in Auld Smiddy Cottage - it had everything we could want in it and we had a lovely relaxing week with lots of interesting places to visit - gardens, empty beaches, light house with stunning views, golf courses, meals out and v relaxing massage in Drummore! We were also v lucky with the weather - must be the sunniest place in Scotland. I'll definitely be recommending the cottage to friends!
