We were initially booked at the other "older" Gloreto Hotel but since we were travelling with a 1 1/2 yr old daughter, we opted to transfer to the more accessible T. Calo branch. I understand that this is newer and when we checked had a bigger bathroom than the other one.
Amenities provided were toilet paper, clean towels, soap and shampoo but minus the toothbrush and toothpaste. In case you need one, you can easily buy from them. The room has hot and cold shower, a sink, a dresser/vanity table with chair, tv and a lampside on each side of the bed. It also had an open cabinet with hangers if you want to hang your clothes. The room can accomodate an extra bed (cost is about 250 pesos) with still more than enough space to move around. The one thing we didn't like (I guess this is true for the whole province because we also noticed this in one of the restaurants in the city) is the smell of the water. It had a rusty smell to it. Maybe because people were saying that water is from deep wells? It's still good and tolerable even for brushing teeth but use mineral water instead to avoid any problems.
The room is clean and tidy with clean sheets and a very comfortable bed but contrary to one of the reviews here, there was no generator. The town had begun rotating daily one-hour power interruption since about 4 days before we arrived. On the day we checked-in, the interruption came at around 2 pm when it was awfully hot! We ended up taking turns fanning my sleeping daughter to make it more comfortable for her. Tip: If you happened to visit during the summer months, don't stay in Room 101 like we did (this was one of only 2 rooms available when we arrived)because the curtains were not thick enough to block the heat of the sun. Plus, this room was right in front of the driveway where plastic roof was installed which made the heat more unbearable. Ask for a room away from the road and cooler suroundings.
Breakfast was included in the room rate and was a choice from among 5-6 set plates, nothing special but good enough to last until lunch. It was also served quick. Breakfast rate for an extra person is only 88 pesos.
Staff were helpful on both locations and understood why we needed to transfer. They were quick to assist us and brought us to the other hotel via local transport free of charge. They were respectful and always greeted guests with a good morning or good evening. Oh, and the hotel had free wifi , too! Access was swift even from the room. Also, if you are Catholic, chapel is just in front of the hotel. Although its construction is still on-going, mass was held nonetheless on the Sunday we were there. Transport to and from the hotel is easy and cheap even if you can't speak Cebuano. A mall, several restaurants, convenience stores and banks are very accessible.
I would love to stay here again given the chance but hopefully they would already have a generator in case the need arises.
