“Breathtaking views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Each view is more magnificent than the one before. This curvy drive along the mountainside was a real treat for our group from Ohio. We don't get to see views like that at home.

“Stunning views...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

I travel to SF frequently for business and I never grow tired of the view at the Marin Headlands. If you have a car, don't miss out on this spectacular attraction located on the far side (north) of the Golden Gate Bridge. To reach this area, travel across the Golden Gate Bridge (north on 101) and take the 2nd exit (Alexander Ave)...you want to head to the left and up the hill on Bunker Ave... As you travel up, you will have amazing views of the city, the bridge, and the rest of the area. Continue upward for equally stunning views. Take a lunch, and enjoy sitting out and watching the scene change before your eyes as the fog rolls in (or out). You can continue along the road for 2 1/2 miles, where you end up at a beach or you can hike up and have a great view of the ocean.

If it is really foggy (as it often is, especially in the summer), you won't be able to see much on this drive. Wait for the fog to burn off, and you will be treated to an absolutely gorgeous view.. On a clear day, I am convinced this is one of the most beautiful vantage points in the world.

“Easy to get to and worth the trip”

We had a perfectly clear day and this was one of the highlights of our trip. Find out when the lighthouse is open and see if you can add that to your trip

“View from the Marin Headlands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

today we went across the Golden Gate bridge and up the Marin Headlands road to view the bridge and San Francisco from the top of the mountain. Unbelievably beautiful view of everything from the top of the Marin Headlands. It was so high above the bridge and the view of the Pacific was outstanding!! Best of all, it was free!

“amazing views of Golden Gate Bridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

My husband and I rented a car and drove around Marin Headlands during the week. The views are breath taking. It's a little disappointing that a few attractions are closed during the week. We weren't able to get to the light house. The visitor center staff were very welcoming and informative. We followed their recommended route and saw great views of San Francisco, Golden Gate bridge, the bay and the hawks.
