My husband and I made plans to go to Lake Tahoe, and didn't want to stay at a Casino Hotel, but wanted to be near shopping and activity. We selected the Marriott Grand Residence Club. It is within walking distance of the South casino's, shopping, a movie theater, and various places to grab a bite to eat. The lobby area is large and comfortable. We selected a one bedroom, two bath suite. It was beautiful. It had two fireplaces, one in the Master Bedroom and one in the Living Room area. The kitchen was fully stocked with small appliances including a crock pot. They supplied dishsoap and laundry detergent. I know that when we travel, my husband wakes early while I wish to sleep in a bit. With the arrangement of this suite. I slept in peace while he went and made coffee, watched TV, and used one bath. It was perfect for meeting all our needs. The valet parking is not truly optional, and does cost $20.00 a night, but it's free to get it brought to you 100 times a day if you simply ask. It is covered parking, and all the valet staff were super. The pool area was clean and very nice. It is a smoke free property. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I recently traveled to Lake Tahoe and i stayed here for a week through Interval International last minute getaway. Overall it was a positive experience. It had a nice pool with 2 Hot tubs and it was great.

Pros:
* Close to the Heavenly village, Shopping and Food.
* Nice rooms & clean rooms.
* Free internet and Free beach pass.
* Some nice activities arranged by hotel (we took a power walk)

Cons:
* Not a friendly front desk. (asked for a change in room type, and they couldn't help)
* No Room service. You have to pay if you are exchanging through Timeshare.
* Towel Service available, but not friendly.
* No parking. Only valet which costs $22/per day.
* Spa was not that great (Very small)

Still I would recommend this Place for its location, cleanliness and views.

We just returned from a 2 night stay at the Marriott Grand Residence in So. Lake Tahoe and were extremely pleased with the hotel. I've posted pictures because the ones I saw posted previously don't do it justice. We stayed in a 1 bedroom, 2 ba suite with a full kitchen. Here's why we LOVE this hotel:
1-Beautiful, updated, warm room with pull out sofa, leather chair, fireplace, dining table and kitchen.. Very roomy, beautiful kitchen w/ granite counters. Our kids ages 12 & 9 decided to sleep on the wide window seats on either side of the fireplace instead of the pull out sofa (see pictures).
2-Separate bedroom with its own fireplace, tv and a nice size jetted tub.
3-Beautiful hotel all around, and great location right next to cinema, gondola, shopping, many restaurants, Raley's, Starbuck's & beach. I asked to see the room first before checking in. I had asked for a lake view room but the rooms facing the lake don't have a water view. We were above the street, but in the distance we had a great view of two sets of snow capped mountains. We did hear a bit of street traffic at night, but not excessive. We always put the temperature control on "fan" for the benefit of white noise that helps us sleep at night. The pool view rooms would be nice too, or gondola view (& maybe a little quiter). I preferred the street/mountain view.
4-The bellman informed us that the laundry machines operate for free even though it looks like you have to put coins in, and room service provides Tide. Nice bonus since we just finished 4 days camping.
5-Beautiful, large pool, with two jacuzzis. The spa looked nice too with a variety of services. Also, I didn't notice that they advertised it online, but there is quite a variety of kids activities during the day and evening that are very reasonably priced. Ex: jewelry making for 1 1/2 hrs for maybe $15?, nature walks, nature crafts $10-15?, and other activities up to about $25 per kid.
6-No pressure or even mention of buying a time share.
7-Nice bath amenities from Bath & Body works.
8-Both rooms have their own bathroom, and one has a tub/shower, the master has a shower and a jacuzzi/jetted tub. There are also two fireplaces & tv's, one in each room.
8-Looks like every room has a balcony but ours was off the bedroom.

This is truly a beautiful hotel. We've stayed at some nice places, like Squaw Valley Resort and a comparable 1 bedroom room was at least $100 more. We also like Embassy Suites but thought we'd try something different this time. We want to come back to this Marriott every year now. The only thing negative would be the gal at the front desk who works in the afternoon because she was not very friendly. Everyone else was great. Also, there is a $22 valet parking fee per day which is a lot. However, when I compared Embassy suites rates without parking & breakfast, this hotel's rates were still less. And Squaw Valley is much more than both hotels. I think we got a better rate with AAA and because we stayed mid June, before summer high season. I do hours of research before booking a hotel, and thanks to tripadvisor we have been very fortunate on our vacations.

We really love this hotel and the location. The rooms are nicely laid out, and the kitchens are fantastic. Rooms are clean. Other reviewers are correct that the staff is not friendly. We've stayed a few times and that is a common theme. One of the most frustrating exprienciences during our May trip was that a GameBoy was taken from our room. My husband realized within 30 minutes of leaving the room that it was left on the kitchen counter. We went back. Housekeeping had already been in. The GameBoy was gone. We are not blaming housekeeping - someone could have leaned into the room and grabbed it when housekeeping was doing their thing. The part of it all that bothered us was that we did report it to the front desk, without accusing anyone. They had "security" come up which was a man with a little pocket notepad. He took very sketchy notes and for the most part, acted disinterested. The front desk staff was the same way. While we did not expect to get the GameBoy back, we did expect a formal report to be written and filed so that if other guest's things went missing, the hotel could try to pinpoint the problem.

So, keep your valuables with you or locked up!!

This place looks nice, but they don't communicate well with each other. We called 4 times to combine our 2 reservations and all that happened was a bunch of transferring to different people. When we arrived the unknowledgable front desk was confused and was not helpful. We had to switch rooms in the middle of our stay. The second room we were in had hair on the the toilet seats of one of the restrooms (the room had 2 restrooms), urine in that same toilet, and had a very awkward odor. When we called down to inform them, they sent housekeeping to our room promptly which was good, however, nobody seemed to care that we were inconvenienced so much. Our fireplace wasn't even working and the maintenance had to come up two separate times to try to fix it. After all this, not a single associate apologized. I doubt they even made any notes that any of these things happened because they seem to have terrible communication. The best people we encountered were the valet. Keep up the good work Valet.
