“Great value for money, excellent for couples or a family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Stayed at the Woolshed in Nov '13 for a friends wedding in a 2 bedroom apartment.

The master headroom was upstairs with its own balcony and ensuite, and there was another room downstairs with two single beds with an adjoining bathroom. The king bed upstairs was comfortable though the 2 singles downstairs were a bit soft and excessively springy,

The open plan living area and kitchen were well equipped - cable on the tv, DVD player, etc, and the kitchen was also equipped with a large fridge, stove and microwave. The living area opened into a courtyard equipped with a barbecue (which we did not use - so no comment about it, though it appeared fine).

The apartments have secure parking (keypad entry at the gate) which was great as we had hired a car.

Location wise, it's a short stroll or drive down to restaurants and the shops, and it is very peaceful and quiet in the evenings - perfect to relax.

A few of us who had come for the wedding (staying in a few different places) came to our apartment before and after and the general comment was that we had done the best out of all of the,, so all in all, probably the best place to stay in Hawkes Bay!

Stayed at Woolshed over Xmas. Found there are NEW OWNERS what a big change from the last time we stayed. Everything about the place was fabulously clean and beautifully presented. The new owners went out of their way to tell us what other places to visit for dinning out and doing the wineries. We loved the quietness and were able to relax in privacy. It is a great central location to both cities. We recommend these apartments, we will be staying again.

Room Tip: great views from the top

Stayed as part of a larger family group over a long weekend in apartment 17 which was a 3 bedroom unit. 3 generations found plenty of space. Worked well with grandparents on ground floor with own bathroom and younger ones in the first floor rooms. Well presented and well appointed. Big comfortable beds. A privacy lock on the bathroom door would have been welcome.

Outdoor deck area opening off the lounge was not used as it rained most of the time we were there but looked a good size

The living area was big enough to hold a dozen people which was good as there was a lot of catch up mingling with the other family groups who were also using the Woolshed as their base.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

My husband and I just stayed at the Woolshed for 3 nights when in Hawkes Bay for a wedding. We got a 2 bedroom apartment for $190 per night. It was a huge apartment, two stories with the living, kitchen and second bedroom/bathroom downstairs, and the main bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

Pros:
1. Location is fabulous, on Te Mata Rd, walking distance to the Havelock North shops, and 5 mins drive to Craggy Range, Blackbarn and Te Mata vineyards.
2. Large apartments, very clean, well fit out with all the cooking things you would need
3. Great management, attentive but relaxed
4. Great value to be able to stay and cook in house for NZ$190 per night
5. Has a washer and dryer in the unit which is handy if you've been on the road for a while!
6. Quiet! Was never disturbed by any noise

Cons:
1. No air conditioning (has a ceiling fan but was a bit hot in February without AC)
2. Free internet is given using codes at 500mb a time, which is annoying when you run out and have to ask for another one, if it's free just open it up?

Overall would definitely recommend this as a good value place to stay in Hawkes Bay.

Stayed here for three nights in November. Phil the manager was extremely personable and a good source of local knowledge. He gave his time freely - thank you. The apartment was spacious and very well appointed. There was no daily service but this was reflected in the price which made this stay one of the best value for money destinations we had during our month long tour.

Room Tip: Stayed in 2 bedroomed upstairs apartment - quiet as no noise from above.
