“good location, smelly bathroom”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We stayed in Gold Rush Inn for 5 nights. The hotel is an old building which is charming of course. However the most problematic part for us was the strong smell of sewage coming from the bathtub and sink. It made the bathroom, and parts of the room smell like an outhouse.
Also the floors are very squeaky so our sleep was constantly interrupted by our neighbours on the top floor walking in the middle of the night. That was hard since we had not many hours to rest to begin with because of the aurora watching tour.

The location of the hotel is good, close to many restaurants in the city, also the beds are very comfy and clean sheets, however as far as the smell is concerned, it is a big turn off, so next time we won't stay here.

Just stayed here for 3 nights. The first room we got on the 2nd floor was terrible, bathtub was
disgusting. We requested a move and moved twice before we ended up on 3rd floor.
The bathroom was much better. The pub is a complete dump and a total disappointment.
The professional photos are completely misleading. We had the worst caesar ever , a rude waitress and a pickled bean that was from the dinosaur ages left us completely wanting to run out of there and never return. We were not foolish enough to try any meals there. The hotel smells
like smoke when you first walk in. I would certainly look for somewhere else to stay, however the location is excellent. That is about all this hotel has going for it. Some of the staff were great, some really seemed to be out to lunch. Rent a car and stay at the Skky by the airport,
really lovely.

I stayed two nights. Room 422 was very spacious and could join to the room next door. The room was clean and quiet. It took me 7-8 lunges from wall to wall.

The hotel is older, many of the buildings on the main street are. It was nice. The gym is very small.

Its on the main street so close to many shops and banks. The Yukon Quest starts just down the street, at least that is what I was told.

The front desk was busy with phone calls, but the lone staff handled it well but she could have used some help. But she checked me in quickly and answered all my questions without rushing.

Checkout was just as quick and without issue.

Room Tip: room 422, lots of space and quiet.

I stayed here twice in two different rooms. The first was overall a good experience, but the second room was terrible. The walls/ceiling are toilet paper thin. The second room smelled terribly of body odor (noticeable immediately). There was a gross stain on the bathroom wall. The staff is not friendly and act like customers are a major inconvenience to them. Major positive is the excellent location as well as he airport shuttle.

After standing 4 hours in freezing nights...to see and photograph the northern lights.....the hotel gave me what I most needed... A nice, warm bed...,and a spacious, clean room.....
Breakfast is included, and when they say breakfast ... That means a huge plate of delicious food!
Didn't like: noicy housekeeping..., few waiters in the restaurant (1! Sometimes 2)for more than ten tables!!!!, the shower water changed temperatures by itself...

We stayed here four nights early March travelling to Whitehorse to view the Northern Lights. The service was great - the staff friendly and helpful. The room was warm, roomy, clean and very comfortable. We have a room over Main Street and the snow covered hill in the background. Perfect for people from the tropics! The location was very central for exploring Whitehorse. We enjoyed the restaurant each night of our stay after choosing to stay in the warmth! The staff were friendly, service good even when they were busy and the food great. Luckily were were there Tuesday night when mussels were on the menu! All in all a great hotel to enjoy the Yukon experience.

We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were well kept, warm and the hotel is right down town close to everything. Free WiFi, comfy bed and good TV. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Staff in the lounge/restaurant on the otherhand were surly and appeared to have a resentful attitude towards serving the customers. Food in the restaurant was poor and tasteless.
