Visited the Granary last night for a bit of a date night / Happy Mothers Day with my DH.
The food was very good - my steak oscar was cooked perfectly and had almost equal amounts of REAL crab to steak. DH's prime rib was massive and cooked perfectly as well. Sadly the Mushrooms Neptune are not the same as they used to be... I can make stuffed mushrooms that far surpass what I was given last night. They were okay but nothing I will order again.
However there have been a couple of less than great things that I've noticed over the past couple of times we have eaten here, all related to the servers. The service has gone down - the vibe you get from the servers is this is a casual restaurant - which is fine but the Granary seems to position itself as a fine dining option in the city. It has more of a fine dining price point but the slow service and level of service does not translate into a fine dining experience. Our servers were slow, dont seem to understand much about serving wine and really didnt do much to add to to the atomosphere to overall mood of the evening. WHich in a fine dining restaurant the servers really do set the mood and contribute to the overall experience of your evening.
Its still really good food especially the prime rib. So if thats what your in the mood for the Granary is still a good place to go with your family.
