We were visiting Saskatoon and I wanted to try a good Ukranian dish. Locals said this place was the best.
It is in a sort-of industrial area away from the downtown core. The place was packed the entire time we were there. Luckily,we were able to get a seat,as there are limited tables. They also do a frozen take-out,which seemed very popular.
We had a combo with a sausage, perogies and cabbage rolls. We payed extra for extra sour cream and bacon bits.(homemade...Mmmmm)
The sausage was excellent,as were the perogies. I was a bit baffled by the cabbage rolls,as they were "mini",in my opinion. But,I seemed to see these small versions all over Saskatoon-so maybe it is a local version.I grew up in Alberta and we had large cabbage rolls,as we do where I now live in Halifax.
There was also no meat in it,but that was my fault for not ordering the ones with meat(the combo must come with the rice only version) My fault!
Over all, the combo was very good and more than we could eat-had to bring the leftovers home.Everything is made on-site(you can watch them being made through the open door into the factory.)
Well worth a try!
