“very interesting part of local history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

This is a very unique historic site. I had lived in Saskatoon since it opened and only went a few years ago. I had the privelage of being guided by a very knowledgable local aboriginal historian. What an interesting place. If you live here and haven't gone, don't wait. If you are travelling here, take it in!

“Boring”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

What a hot and boring 2 hours. I went to show a friend visiting from the maritimes about our aboriginal people, but all we did was wonder around. We had no idea what we were looking at, there were no interpretors or anyone explaining the sites. Very VERY boring!

Kids can have free run of the place, if going with a school, they organise games for kids to play and they can try archery.

“A Memorable Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

We travelled here on a beautiful sunny late June day and found the experience to be quite moving. The museum itself does not contain a lot of information for the self-guided traveller but I imagine that more is done for groups. That said, the displays are quite remarkable. I was particularly impressed with the Mistamin exhibition and the beautiful beadwork that was displayed in a series of 5 display cases. The exhibition itself highlights the role of the horse for the Plains Cree and Metis nations. The outdoor trails are not to be missed. The serenity of this place is just amazing. If you plan ahead you can stay and camp on the property in a tipi. We had lunch at the restaurant and were not disappointed. We had the saskatoonberry tea, Wild Rice Salad with sun-dried cranberries and almonds, and the Three Sisters Bison chili. Delicious!

“Beautiful, calming historic center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Wanuskevan is an unusual, strikingly lovely natural site where the Cree tribe lived for thousands of years. The well-marked and historically-informative hiking trails and the delicious bison-proud restaurant made for a wonderful visit. I would, however, have liked the museum to go deeper into the history and culture of the Cree.
