“Over Priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2010

Typical Holiday Inn Express. We always stay in this chain and have had a lot of success. This room was quite small and overlooked an adjoining roof. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was the standard stuff. Again, if I has one main complaint it would be the size of the room vs the cost.

I've stayed in most of the hotels in Saskatoon and this is my favorite -- the staff are excellent, the rooms spacious and very clean and well laid out. Really good value for the price, believe me I had paid significanly more for less in this city -- the complimentary breakfast was diverse and had some healthy choices (which isn't always the case). Overall I was very impressed and this will be my property of choice for future trips to the city!

We stayed here the night before our wedding as well as our wedding night. I have to be honest and say we did not spend a whole heck of a lot of time at the hotel.

We reserved a regular room for the first night and the honeymoon suite for the second night. When we arrived we were informed that we were being upgraded to the honeymoon suite for both nights, SWEET DEAL!!

We went up to our room to find a very spacious, nice room. A little dated but not too bad, and well taken care of. The suite is two rooms, has a large tub next to the bed and a large washroom area. It's too bad that the tub is not a jacuzzi and it takes quite awhile to fill. The shower is INCREDIBLY dark. There is no light in it or near it. The closest light is the vanity light over the sink which is around the corner from the shower. We had to turn on every light even remotely near the shower and it was still super dark.

We enjoyed the continental breakfast both mornings. The service we received from staff was very good and friendly.

The hotel is not located in the best spot but it is safe and there are much worse areas of town. It is near downtown and close to a large shopping mall (Midtown Plaza). It is also close to the bus depot and is an easy drive to the airport. There are train tracks very close by, I'm sure the train is loud when it goes by, I don't think it went by while I was there.

All in all, this is a fine hotel. You get pretty much exactly what you'd expect. We would stay there again without a doubt.

If I could give a higher rating for room quality and service I would. Everything about this hotel is great - the location, restaurants nearby, the room I had was amazingly comfortable and the front desk staff were very helpful with several things during my stay, including taxis, airport shuttle (they do offer a free airport shuttle as well), and bank machines. Have already booked another stay for the 2nd of January!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2009

I stayed here based on the strong ratings from what other travellers in tripadvisor posted and everyone was right. My experience was very positive. The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel isn't far from downtown Saskatoon if you are driving. The single most impressive feature is their staff. Everyone was friendly, competent and were genuinely concerned about whether everything was going well with my stay. I just can't say enough about how much I liked and respected the staff. I also loved the breakfast in the morning (included in the price). Lots of variety (bagels, oatmeal, bacon, eggs, fruit).

Just a couple of points: The exercise room is tiny with just a couple of cardio machines and a few weights (max. poundage 10) so if you're a serious workout person, you may want to look into a one day pass at a local gym. The main street is Idlewyld and it's very, very busy and there are some sirens at night so ask for a room at the back of the hotel or just keep the A/C fan on which creates white noise so you can't hear the traffic.

Despite those couple of glitches, I loved this hotel and would stay again.

Well, gees, there are train tracks 20 feet away from this hotel, and when that train comes you can sure hear the dinging and the rumbling. It ran through the night, woke up at lease 3-4 times in the night. We had a 7 month old with us and eveytime we heard the train we were in fear of him waking up! I know when a baby sleeps there out, but are little guy has issues with sleep. I don't understand why they would of built a hotel here so close to the tracks!
Never will step foot in this hotel again!

After a long day of driving, we were looking forward to a good night's sleep at the Holiday Inn Express. We got that and more-a large, clean room with lots of little extras, friendly, helpful staff and a lovely buffet breakfast in the morning. We had an excellent stay and plan to back again soon.
