We were in the city for VDay week end. We we're two couples and had trouble getting in anywhere for dinner on the 15th. We were able to get into Bello at 9:30 pm so we took the reservation. We showed up 15-20 minutes early And they were able to accommodate us which was nice.
Atmosphere: The from room is beautifully decorated, trendy yet cozy. If you make reservations make sure you request being seated in the FRONT. The back is nice enough but the tables are incredibly crowded. If your looking for an intimate dinner, be prepared to dine with the stranger beside you.
Service: like I mentioned, they seated us right away without complaining about our being early. Our server had zero personality and looked like he had no interest in working. We had to repeat everything we ordered because he hardly acknowledged our requests. All the tables around us got bread but ours didn't come until we asked for it. Drinks came quick and food was times perfectly.
Food: we started with the antipasto dish. It consisted of cured meats, gravlax, different cheeses and calamari. It was very good. I asked for more bread because I feel all that cheese and meat goes best with bread. I'd heard a lot of talk about the Caesar salad being "the best" it is made for 2 so I shared a pizza and the Caesar with another member of our party. The Caesar was soggy and nothing impressive at all, I would not get it again. The pizza was AMAZING. 3 out of the 4 of us got pizza and it was all very very good. The 4th person got the ravioli. Now, we're Italian and we may have higher standards when it comes to pasta but this was just bad. The ravioli itself was alright but the sauce was terrible. It tasted like smokey tomato paste and nothing else. For desert one couple had the tiramisu and they said it was ok. We had the lemon pie which was nice.
Location: perfect location. About 2 blocks up from the chateau on the main drag. Was only about 200 feet from our hotel (hotel acadia) and 5 minute walk to the winter carnival. Amazing.
Overall, I'd go back for the pizza for lunch but not if I want a fine dining experience. Not exactly worth the money.
