But I left feeling disappointed, AND a bit like someone had reached into my pocket and taken my money against my will!
I went here with my boyfriend the weekend after Thanksgiving 2012. We had been in town all weekend for a wedding and had walked by several times. I was VERY excited to check it out and my boyfriend really wanted a poutine, so when we had some time to ourselves, we took the opportunity to go in.
I had the Vanilla Creme Brulee milkshake which was FANTASTIC - my boyfriend had the salted caramel... they were both delicious... I was so excited for what came next. I ordered the "Le Chic" ($10) and he ordered "Le Du Fort" ($11) but they were out of smoked meat - I cannot remember what he ended up taking after that. The burgers were average. Definitely not worth what we paid for them. (Granted, we have a chain of "Relish" gourmet burger joints in our area which really put these to shame, taste and value wise, so maybe we are just spoiled when it comes to "gourmet" burgers??)
We thought that for $10, we could share a larger sized poutine and both come out feeling satisfied (especially after we saw our neighbours receive a huge bowl heaped over with french fries) but we were wrong. When our poutine came, it was half of the bowl with gravy on the bottom (had not been poured over the cheese curds so they were cold). Very disappointing poutine - good concept, but failed on the delivery.
For about $30, I would have considered this to be a fair meal, but at $50 for two of us, it was very disappointing. VERY unique concept, great service and venue, but failed on the delivery of value for the type of food that we received.
