“A wonderful stay at Auberge Le Vincent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We stayed at Augerge Le Vincent for 2 nights in mid August. Our rooms were clean, cozy with a rustic feel, and had everything you needed while on vacation. Breakfast (with a choice) was included - Home cooked and delicious. Diego the desk clerk / concierge / waiter is what made this place great! He is helpful with all your inquiries, directions etc.....A way above average quaint / boutique hotel - 10 min walk from beautiful Old Quebec city. I definetly would stay here again.

Room Tip: room 10 and 4 - beautiful - very cool brick walls and amazing glass shower!

We chose this boutique hotel based on other reviews on TripAdvisor and we are very happy we did. The attractive and contemporary rooms are only surpassed by the top notch staff. Everyone went out of their way to provide us with great service and advice. We were more than satisfied with the tasty breakfast menu and our dietary limitations were addressed very well. The location near Old Town made for easy walking to many destinations so this place is a winner in every way!

The location was perfect for our stay in Québec City, close to the city elevator that lifts you to the Old Town and two blocks from the downtown area. There's a lovely park nearby and a variety of restaurants. We enjoy walking, so we felt well-anchored here. An included breakfast is a must for us, and Le Vincent offers an incredible meal with five or six selections, juice and speciality coffees. Returning home after touring all day, we had the option to select a DVD from a big collection and watch it from our cozy bed. The only thing we would have changed was the shower. It was in a corner of the room, offering no privacy at all. If this is a problem for you, be sure to ask for a room with the shower in the bathroom. The owner was charming and made us feel welcome and at home.

Room Tip: There are stairs to climb, and no elevators. If this is a concern, ask for a room on the first or s...

This small hotel has 10 rooms and when you book your stay you have to choose a particular room. I booked this stay last minute and just picked whatever room was available for one night - in our case it was one of the double bed rooms with the open concept bathroom. The bathroom is open to the rest of the room and even though there are some curtains, the mirrors are placed in such a way that it offers no privacy whatsoever. While I travel with my husband, I still value some privacy in the bathroom. In addition, a double bed is just too small in any hotel room and there was a wooden board near the headboard which made the bed a little more uncomfortable. As a result, sleep quality wasn't very good although it was a fairly quiet room facing the back street.

I also struggle to rate this hotel based on its star rating. Their website says it's a 4-star hotel in which case I have to rate it as average based on the comments above. If they advertised themselves as a 3-star hotel, which I think is what it is, I would rate it as very good.

Having said the above, there are some very good aspects about this hotel and I would consider returning, just booking a different room with private bathroom and a bigger bed.

I didn't mind the location which some reviewers have pointed out. The hotel is located a few steps from a city elevator which takes you to the top of the hill. From there it's a quick uphill walk to Rue St. Jean which you can then follow all the way into the old city. The walk takes about 15 minutes and you will pass by many interesting shops and restaurants which you would miss if you stay closer to the old city. I also appreciated the walk back at night as it gave me some exercise after hopelessly overeating during dinner. Reception closes at 10 but you get an access code and are able to enter through the back door.

The rain shower was one of the best I've seen in a hotel room and I also liked the Vincent van Gogh inspired paintings throughout the hotel. Breakfast is made to order with about 6 options and was absolutely delicious. The owner served breakfast himself and he was extremely friendly. We had the French toast and omelette with cappuccino and orange juice. The portions were decent and I can't imagine breakfast tasting any better at any of the city's restaurants. This was a great value included in the room price. Valet parking was $15 per day.

Overall I would say this is a good option when staying in Quebec City provided you don't mind the walk and choose your room carefully (each room has a different description).

Room Tip: Choose one of the queen or king bed rooms and ensure it has a private bathroom.

For my 50th birthday we started my birthday surprise here. The auberge is situated just beside the elevator that takes you to the haute ville where a short walk has you on a little street of boutiques and also has access to the old city vieux Quebec. The proprietor assisted in having my surprise start by providing tickets to the Bordeaux in Quebec event and also sparkling wine. The room is nicely finished, well appointed and the shower is wonderful. Also even though the auberge is between two streets and our room had windows on three sides we did not here any traffic noise. The auberge offers breakfast which is very good and made on site. There is no need for any dinner menu as there are so many excellent restaurants within walking distance that it is unnecessary. Our car was valet parked in a secured garage just across from the auberge.

We stayed here for four night and three days. We were in Room 2 which is a nice size. The bathroom is very new with Grohe faucets. The breakfast was outstanding and several choices. The cappachino was excellent. We went several different restaurants in the area. The last one was very new to the area and 4.95 fixed prixe. It was called. Resto le bureau de poste ltee, 296 rue st. joseph, E. Quebec . It is on the corner two streets down from the inn. Remember when you stay here to take the elevator to the Olde City or your legs will be so tired. You do have to be in good shape to the streets here. I would highly recommend this place. Nice people who always have a smile for you whether in the beginning of the day or the end.

Room Tip: We got Room #2 and it was perfect.

Great hotel, very worthy of its top reviews. Our welcome to the hotel was very warm and our car was taken away for us to be parked. Our room was very stylish and individual. The breakfast was well presented and very tasty. The hotel is located about 15 mins walk from the centre....an ideal distance as the walk into town is past lots of individual shops. Lots of extras in the room, docking station for ipod, DVD player etc. Great for the kids. Would recommend to anyone.
