“Hotel in Vieux Quebec with great location, indoor parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Hotel Champlain's location can't be beat - a short walk from Chateau Frontenac and everything else. Add to that indoor parking (which you must reserve at the time of room reservation) and you have a comfortable hotel at a reasonable price that is perfect for the area.

"I think you will like it... That was the message we got when we arrived. "We upgraded your room for the same price. Room 11 !! Take a look." And yeah what a room! From Standard to Suite with jacuzzi, fireplace and super King. Great! Ready to explore Quebec city. Besides that great room there some other great values: perfect additional free coffee in the lobby and right in the center of the old town. What more do you wish? What about a... descent breakfast? A great disappointment.....a standard common continental one. Ok, lets go out, the little restaurants are near. :) Overall: a very pleasant stay. However, if you travel by car, be sure to make a reservation . If not...parking on walking distance in a public garage at 16$ a day. So be it.....

My husband and I stayed at Le Champlain Hotel for 3 nights.

Hotel room was very nice. Clean, with a very comfortable bed, flat screen t.v., etc. The bathroom was particularly fun with a round, glass sink which was painted to look like goldfish were swimming in it and a neat faucet.

Best of all, the Hotel was located within walking distance of the many shops, the Chateau Frontenac and artists. No need to rent a vehicle.

There was a free cappucino, latte, hot chocolate machine available in the lobby 24/7 which really hits the spot when you return from a long day of sightseeing.

Breakfast was included with the room and had a lot of variety and a hot offering (e.g. crepes, waffles, etc.) changed daily.

One of the best things about this hotel was the staff! Even though we didn't speak French, it was never a problem. Staff effortlessly changed to English and we felt very welcome!

Rosanne greeted us at the front desk upon check-in and asked us to let her know at anytime if she could be of assistance. Her knowledge of the area was great and she was happy to locate places on a tourist map and then give it to you!

Also deserving of special mention is Fransien, an employee who always had a brilliant smile and took real pleasure in her work. While refilling and cleaning the breakfast room, she would often do a little dance step or hop. She simply radiated joy. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and happy to be working there.

We will happily stay at this hotel again, should we be able to return to Quebec City.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 4th floor facing the back of the hotel and was quiet and peaceful.

You would choose this for the great location in the heart of old Quebec...branch out in any direction easily to see the sights.
15 minute walk from train station.
Breakfast room small, crowded but quaint with nice staff and selection. They accommodated our early departure by opening 15 minutes earlier which was great.
24 hour coffee/latte machine , plus teas and hot chocolate.
Hotel room itself dated with heavy furniture and old drapes, but big and clean. Still inviting enough to relax your weary feet. Fridge. Bright white large bathroom with shower and tub. Chocolates on pillow first evening is nice.
Don't know other hotels to compare it to. I would recommend this hotel to a traveller looking for a 3 star hotel, not 4 or 5.

This hotel is very well located in the old city. Our bedroom was clean but when we made the reservation, (I called twice and talked to 2 different persons) we were told that our room would be upgraded to a Junior suite for the same price as our Superior room. Unfortunately, it didn't happen! We were disappointed but we didn't say anything since we still had our original room. They should not say that they will upgrade your room if they are not going to do it. Both persons told me we would have an upgrade!

We went there around 2 pm to know at what time was our check in. The girl said around 3:30 or 4 pm. No offer about checking in earlier so we just had to keep walking in the city.

The bed and pillows were comfy. The curtains were in pretty bad shape (they were ripped in several spots due) though. We had a street view but even it was pretty quiet. We heard some noise and the tv in the next bedroom and in the hallway at evening but it was quiet during the night.
The breakfast is good but the breakfast area is very small but it does the job.

This is a very quaint and lovely place to stay! The staff were very friendly and offered suggestions for dining when asked. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Would love to go back and spend more time!

We truly enjoyed this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, offered to upgrade our room to a junior suite at no additional charge upon our arrival. The room was very comfortable and clean with a Jacuzzi tub and a fun electric fireplace, which we appreciated on a cold evening. You cannot beat the location - you can walk everywhere. We did not use our car the entire three days we visited. The complimentary breakfast was very good and some items changed each day for variety. Will definitely return to Hotel Champlain and highly recommend it to others.
