“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Two couples, long time friends - enjoyed our 3 night stay in the attractive 'new rooms with stone walls'. Friendly/competent help with advice on restaurants and activities; printed out maps for us in answer to our inquiries re non-typical destinations.
Very much enjoyed the location near Avenue Cartier; easy to walk out to a nearby restaurant. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel seems to be in two parts: the one in front and the extension in the back. The main entrance looks good, and this is probably where you get the rooms described in most reviews. Unfortunately we stayed in the extension. While the room was clean, it was extremely basic. Actually it was more like a glorified motel rather the lovely B&B we expected. The owner and the reception staff were both friendly and helpful. You can easily park for free in the street on Sunday, saving you $14. Overall, you may want to stay away from the standard room, the value for money is quite bad.

Dear Blu42,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay at Auberge Aux deux Lions. Be assured that your comments have been taken into consideration.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the service provided by our team members and the cleanliness of our rooms. We are committed to welcome you as friends and offer you a clean environment.

Regarding our rooms, it is true that our standard rooms are our simplest, hence their lower price compared to the other room categories. If we guess right what room you had, our standard room in semi-basement, this is the only room in this category in the extension part of the hotel. Our rooms in the front part, the ‘’old’’ part, have a unique character due to the century-old building in which they are located and the rooms in the extension offer a more modern decor. But all rooms have the same amenities such as flat-screen TV with cable, radio alarm clock, private bathroom, free high speed internet access, desk and queen-size bed, all decorated with a simple decoration.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced and we sincerely hope to welcome you again in our other rooms so you may experience the lovely B&B you expected.

Regards,

Jean-François Dulac

Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Close to everything, excellent location. Friendly staff. A well equipped kitchenette is available to guests (coffee maker, microwave oven, mini fridge, no stove). Very convenient. We had take out sushi from a nearby restaurant and had everything we needed at hand.

An oasis of charm and terrific hospitality! Just a 10 minute walk from the convention centre - where unfortunately we had to spend a lot of time. We're definitely coming back to take Jean-Francois up on his many recommendations for true Quebecois experiences. The room is clean and unhotel like - in that you get your own entrance, own little kitchen, etc.

Room Tip: We stayed in the downstairs stone room. Very quiet.

We booked this lovely little hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews and price. We were not disappointed. The location is within walking distance of the old town and close to stores and restaurants. We parked our car (free parking) and walked. We booked “superior” rooms and found them to be lovely, well appointed and comfortable. The beds were especially comfortable. But the best reason to stay here is the friendly, helpful service of the entire staff. They gave us excellent suggestions for dinner and shopping, and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Just as an example, it was raining very heavily the first night we arrived. We had dinner reservations at a restaurant just a short walk away, and the owner, Jean-Francois offered to drive us to our destination. It was incredibly kind, and we took him up on it. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to anyone visiting Quebec.

We were so very pleased with the accommodations, as well as the warm and friendly reception! This Auberge is not a " Bed and Breakfast" in the traditional sense, but offered a more European vibe. I was reminded of the Hotel Fita in Amsterdam. We walked to a number of restaurants ( La Scala was a neighbourhood restaurant with a great deal of French ambiance. The pianist added a wonderful addition to an Italian menu. ) Also, one could find fruit stands, deli offerings and coffee shops very close by. I fell in love with Quebec City, and this Auberge completed our holiday.

Room Tip: Room 215 had a ground floor access, and the private garden was like an extension of the room

Hi,

We stayed at the Auberge on our visit to Quebec city. This is a charming place, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable rooms, well appointed kitchenette in the room (they provide dishes/bowls, cutlery and even a cutting board and knives), a common microwave and a laptop which guests can use. In other words everything that a traveller would need. To top it all, the staff - Joelle, Sandie and Jean Francois are very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is near restaurants, and even a drugstore and supermarket are just around the corner. We used taxis to get to the old city - in Quebec we found that the cabs arrive immediately - and the Auberge was well known to all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
