We stayed here during our honeymoon for our few days in quebec. It was a good location and a very nice and clean place. It had parking and of course the host was excellent. We initially were booked in the cartier room, which didn't have alot of room for us, especially since we were hauling around alot of cargo full of gifts being enroute home from our destination wedding.

Jean-francois went out of us way to get us in the top floor suite which had its own kitchen and a beautiful washroom and cozy living room. It was perfect for us since we like to laze around and we could skip out on breakfast if we felt need be. We highly recommend this place.

The B&B, soon to be a small hotel, is in a nice area of Quebec about 5 blocks from the city wall. It is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the old town. One block away is Rue Cartier where there are some shops and good restaurants.

Jean-Francois was the perfect host for our 3 day visit. We enjoyed chatting with him and the other guests at breakfast.

Our room was very nice and the shower was great! We hope to go back and see the changes when it becomes a small hotel.

Merci, Jean-Francois!

My wife and I have stayed in many B&Bs in North America and Europe. This is one of the very best. It was very clean, the bed and room were very comfortable and quiet. Jean-François, the proprietor, was very warm and welcoming, rushing to the door to let us in when we arrived by car. He has a wonderful sense of humour, gently teases after he gets to know you, and has excellent skills at managing a B&B and making guests feel cared for. He seems to love what he is doing and that is reflected back in the quality of his inn. The breakfast, though a little on the light side, was delicious. The bathroom was spotless and had an excellent shower.

Jean-François gives good advice on where to eat nearby. He offered 3 restaurants of varying prices - all 3 were very good, but one of them (Momento) was really outstanding and relatively inexpensive.

Also, note that it is not located in the old, touristy part of the city, which is great because it's much quieter without the tourists. The old city is an easy 10-15-minute walk, and buses run all the time right in front of the auberge for those who prefer not to walk. Still, right nearby - just 5 minutes away - are the 3 restaurants Jean-François recommends.

This is a very good value! We highly recommend Auberge aux deux Lions.

My wife and I just spent New Years in Qubec City at the B&B. We stayed there for 4 nights in the Cartier room. I believe this is the only room without an ensuite but a private washroom is located directly across the room and we didn't have any problems. Four new rooms are to be added on in April 2008 to accommodate this hidden gem. We would definitely return for a second visit and hopefully during 2008 while the city celebrates it's 400th birthday.

The location is ideal since it is walking distance (15 min) to old Quebec and located outside of the wall. This is actually a nice perk because you get to enter the city and marvel at the architecture. Cartier Avenue is 1 block away and has many restaurants to choose from including a SAQ!!! We dined at Memento and highly recommend. There's also Chez Victor, an awesome casual restaurant specializing in the best hamburgers (and the best tofu burger for vegetarians). We definitely suggest making reservations as it get quite busy.

Jean Francois, the host, welcomed us into his home with open arms and kept us laughing with his timely jokes. He prepared breakfast each morning 9am sharp and sat with us and the other guests to chat. We found this pesonable. He was very knowledgable and able to direct us to great dining options and lesiure activities to do while in Quebec City.

Upon our arrival, Jean Francois came outside, greeted us and carried my bag up to our room the Vieux Quebec on the top floor. What a pleasant welcome. He's done a wonderful job in making a lovely "home away from home" - the gite is spotlessly clean, unfussily decorated and cozy. However, my husband had to crouch to avoid bumping his head because the Vieux Quebec room is a converted attic space with lots of angled ceilings. It was a large space that included a lounge area with a television and a kitchenette, but it was great having a second sink and I never intended to cook. Jean Francois gave us that room because we stayed for six nights and thought we would be most comfortable for that length of time.

He made great recommendations for us at restaurants one of which was Chez Victor. He said it was the best hamburger in the world and my husband and I ate there twice. My organic beef burger was delicious and the frites were perfect. Jean Francois also recommended restaurant Graffiti and we also ate there twice - excellent food and service.

Jean Francois spent time chatting with us at breakfast and we were able to learn lots about him and Quebec City which is one of the reasons we enjoy staying at B&B's. We enjoyed meeting the other guests at breakfast as well. Jean Francois always remembers what you like to eat and makes sure to provide it.

The gite is in a very good and convenient location and we were able to walk or take the bus everywhere.
