Instead of tell you about all the sites let me give my idea on how to do Quebec.
Find the Funnuculare first thing. It will make your visit easy insead of exhausting.
Top is at the back of the Chateau Frontenac on the boadwalk-Terrise Dufferin
Bottom is at end of Petite . It is hidden in a little historic house. $2.25 each.
Second take a tour to find everything at one time. They have bus tours everywhere. It gives a great overview of this imposing but actually small city.Once you have your bearing it gets easy to get around.
If you want to get a great view of the City go to Astrail for drinks. The food is just barely OK so with so many great restaurants in town why eat there?
Mussee of Civilazation was so medicore I would just skip it and save your time for other things. If you are much of a world traveler you have been to lots of great museums and this isn't one of them. There is nothing of much interest and the exhibits didn't have much imagination. Even the Paris- Belle Epoque exhibit was not much.
Restaurants - Ill Matto is Great.
Le Continental is OK, formal, boring but nostalgic in a way.
Conti- Next door is hip with great food in a fun atmosphere.
Chateau Frontenac is a very nice Fairmont Hotel. The Chateau is expensive with overpriced drinks in the lounge and way overpriced food in the restaurants. We chose it because we knew the location was great and it would be easy to navigate the town from there, but after spending a little time getting the layout, any Old Town Hotel is in a perfect location. .
It IS that small and easy to navigate AFTER you know exactly where the Fununcularre is located.Otherwise you may climb three flights of steps, walk fifty yards then have to go back down three flights of steps.
The hills are leg killers even for the younger ones. I am not that !
