“Stylish Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2007

I stayed at this hotel for a 4-night getaway with my husband. We loved the location - this part of the lower town is not overrun with tacky tourist shops, has great restaurants and is walking distance from everything. We had a very stylish superior room with high ceilings, a view of the river and a great rainhead shower. Breakfast was excellent and the complimentary coffee and tea all day was brilliant! There were a few minor stumbles - not enough hangers in the room and a problem with the sink drainage, which were not attended to during our stay despite our immediate request to the front desk, but the overall stay was so enjoyable that this did not really bother us. We ate in some outstanding neighborhood restaurants including Le Cochon Dingue, Toast and Panache (incredible!) All in all, a great getaway to a beautiful and restful hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights in a king room with river view. Room is clean, big and modernly decorated. Bath room is great, the shower is amazing, but no bath tub.
We arrived at 4pm but no door man to help carry our bags up the stairs to the lobby nor to our room. The check-in was kinda slow but no big deal. Location is great.
There is free wireless internet (need to ask for password every 5 hour) and a simple gym.

We absolutely loved this hotel. The king superior we booked was huge and flooded with natural light thanks to the enormous windows. We loved the bathroom as well, its entirely made of grey stone, so pretty masculine, but beautiful. The rainshower was great. A warning though, if you're into frilly, you won't like this hotel, its a bit "design". The breakfast was good, nothing exceptionnal, although I liked the fact that they offered "cretons", a local specialty. The hotel is in the perfect location, its in a very quiet street, so no street noise whatsoever, but in literraly 1 min you can wander around the bustling streets of Basse-ville, before heading to Haute ville, which is only a staircase away.
Great hotel!!

I loved the Hotel 71. We were in Quebec for a week and our stay in Quebec City was the most memorable. The gym isn't the greatest but you can always run outside. The staff wasn't plentiful but they were helpful. We were reluctant at first in choosing this hotel since we had a baby but it was a great choice. The complimentary breakfast was also nice. The location is walking distance to everything.

My wife and I stayed 4 nts at the beginning of July and we were impressed by the location first, at the heart of the Old Port, and by the beautiful, modern reception area which also includes a coffee bar. During your stay the coffee is free of charge which is a welcome bonus. The hotel also provide a continental breakfast (cereals and pastries etc) which we were very satisfied with.
The room was very modern and comfortable at the same time, with a big bed and fantastic bathroom with a wet room including a great rain shower head. We also had a great view of the river. Nice.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the concierge gave us recommendations for Restaurants (try Panache at the Hotel St Antoinne opposite and you will not be disappointed) and booked a Whale watching trip on our behalf with the expected efficiency.
There are quite a few nice Boutique hotels in the Old Port area of Quebec and this is certainly one of them. If you can get a decent rate and you like the style of the decor then you should definitely consider staying here.

  • Liked — Modern Design and Location.
  • Disliked — The (original) flooring in the bedrooms was a bit, well, loose in parts. But that's being picky!

We stayed here for a few days based on recommendations on tripadvisor.com. This was a very nice boutique hotel. Clean, unique, and we experienced an always friendly and helpful staff. A converted
bank with modern decor and an edgy feel to it compared to your average hotel. The location is great being very convenient to the historic part of town.

Nice amenities such as breakfast, free coffee and bottled water, and a drink at the bar. The showers in the room were nicely done. Spacious, glass door, nice, shower heads on the ceiling and wall, what looked like flagstone tiling...very relaxing after walking around all day. The exercise room was small but I liked being able to
use the free weight bench. Most hotels stick with all machines.

Some details in our room that could have added to the stay would have been a refrigerator to store snacks, and a bathtub. Housecleaning made the beds each day but we noticed they didn't vacuum or sweep very well.

We would stay here again. Thank you for the recommendation!

  • Liked — the design, decor, amenities and service.
  • Disliked — housecleaning.

I cannot say enough about this hotel! It is gorgeous, well situated in the Old City, and the service is really wonderful!

The staff upgraded our room to a Suite for no additional cost. The room was beautifully decorated and the view was WONDERFUL .The bathroom was clean and the shower was extra.

In addition, the hotel has valet parking (a plus in the Old City), continental breakfast each morning, and a wine and cheese every afternoon.

If you are looking for romance, this is the hotel.
If you want to feel chic, this is your hotel.

I would go back in an instant!
