“Fabulous hotel, fabulous food and fabulous location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

This hotel is charming with lovely rooms (although being tall we had to mind our heads in the attic!) helpful and friendly staff and a perfect location. Our room was quiet and pretty although we didn't have a great view - but no real problem since you just have to step out of the front door for them! We loved our stay in Quebec and would definitely recommend. We had dinner on the last night in Pain Beni and it was the best meal I have had in a restaurant. 10/10!

Room Tip: A room at the front if you want a view but it might be noisier,

Bonjour Sue S
Merci for taking time to give us a feedback on your stay. What an excellent review and I agree with you our location is fantastic. At the corner of rue Ste-Anne and du Trésor the only 2 pedestrian streets in upper Town. The hotel, as you mentionned, has a lot of character since it is 2 old buildings joined together. In our rénovations we did our best to save the old walls , while adding modern amenities to provide you an unique stay.
Our best asset is our team, devoted to our guests and their needs. They know their city and want to share it with you.
I will also pass on your kind to our chef and his crew at the Pain Béni. We are the only small hotel in town with a quality restaurant and this allows us to offer morning, noon and evening meals of quality. Glad you enjoyed it !
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back.

This is a charming hotel. The location is absolutely great. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. The one issue we had was addressed immediately.
We were told that each room is unique and the reviews bear that out. We stayed in room #4 and yes, I banged my head twice on the slanted ceiling. It has a soaking tub (and shower) that my wife just loved, king size bed, sitting area ... The was a Nespresso machine in the room. (Bring your favorite capsules if you have them. Only a couple are provided but they were not the best imho. ) The wi-fi was great, never a glitch.
Full breakfast selections from a lovely menu were included in our room price. Our first night dinner was at Pain Beni and was the best meal we had all week.
We used valet parking which worked quite well. We took a day trip and had no problem accessing our car.
If one thing stood out it would be the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They didn't laugh at my rusty French, so five stars for that alone.

Room Tip: Read the reviews for descriptions of the rooms since they are all different.

The entire team of the Auberge Place d’Armes would like to thank you for your wonderful words and taking your time to share them with us.
Merci for your compliments about our rooms and bathrooms. Combining 1730 old walls, modern amenities, hand made designer furniture and antiques give each of our rooms their unicity and soul!

Our team work hard, to provide a unique stay for each of our guests and let them feel l’hospitalité Québécoise !

I will pass to the Chef and his brigade your good words about breakfast and dinner ! Just to let you know as we describe the Pain Beni as a bistronomic restaurant that works with local ingredients according to season .

Just to add, next time, ask at the front desk for as many nespresso capsules as you want !
Your comment give us wings !

Thank you to Trip Advisor for helping me find this property.
My husband and I stayed her for a week and enjoyed every minute.
First of all, the hotel is centrally located and within minutes of walking to all major sites and restaurants.
Our room was Comfortable and Clean. We had a queen bed, shower, refrigerator, sitting area, air conditioning (who thought you would need that in Quebec City) and wi-fi. Also included was a full breakfast each morning.
The staff went out of their way to answer our questions, even providing a list of churches and the hours of their services.
We opted for the valet parking service for our car and it was well worth it. My one suggestion would be to have a clearer explanation of their location and parking on their web site. The street in front of the hotel is pedestrian only. Therefore you stoop your car a mere two doors down at the end of the street where the valet will pick up your car and park it for you. It is a bit confusing trying to find the hotel when you are new to the city and the GPS inaccurately has you "arriving at destination" when you are around the block.
We dined twice in their on-site restaurant Pain Beni where, again, the staff was wonderful and the food delicious. I also found the prices in the restaurant to be lower than many of the other places in town, so it's a good deal.
Thank you Romain, Noelle and the rest of the staff who provided a memorable visit for us.

Room Tip: We were in room 15 which faced the street. The temperature was just perfect and we opted to keep th...

The Hotel is in the best location of old Quebec, we had a charming and clean small room , staff was helpful and pleasant. Great small Hotel but no elevator, not suited for a handicapt person.
The Restaurant food was very good and reasnoble, would stay there again.

It was pouring rain the entire time I was in Quebec (did I mention cold too?) but this staying in the Auberge Place D'Armes was warm and like home! The location is terrific, my room was simply delightful and modern, and the restaurant le Pain Beni was fantastic!! The staff was professional, friendly, and knowledgable. There is no reason to stay at the big Chateau Frontenac when you can have all of the amenities and more personal service in the very same location in town. I loved having breakfast (delicious!) included with my stay. It is very quiet there at night and I slept like a baby. The church bells can get a little loud at times but it's all part of that old world Quebec feeling. Will recommend this to all of my friends.

The entire team of the Auberge Place d’Armes would like to thank you for your wonderful review. Your comments are a source of motivation for us.
With his unique location it is so easy to walk all over the city and discover all the charms of Quebec. The hotel has a lot of character since it is 2 old buildings joined together. In our rénovations we did our best to save the old walls , while adding modern amenities( soundproof windows, heated floors in the bathroom etc) to provide you an unique stay and each room is unique in size and décor. We tried for our guests to make Auberge Place d’Armes a home away from home.
I will pass on your kind words to the housekeeping team as well as to our chef and his crew at the Pain Béni without forgetting the front desk. We are proud of our team ! Everybody loves his job and loves meeting interesting people that choose to stay with us !

If you're looking for a Hilton, go somewhere else. This hotel is small, is not part of a chain, and has no Fitness Centre [and no elevator!]

HOWEVER, if you appreciate a small hotel in an 18th century building in a perfect location, with a good breakfast at no extra charge, read on! The staff are friendly, helpful, perfectly bilingual and they'll carry your bags up the stairs for you. The location is ideal - across the Square from the Château Frontenac, in the Old City. It's clean and quiet and the stone walls and timber beams add to the great atmosphere.

This hotel is in a perfect location in Quebec City. It is one a pedestrian only street, across the square from the Chateau Frontenac, one short block to the funicular to go down to the old port and close to shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little small but comfortable, very clean and with exposed 17th century brick. The bathtub/shower was in the room behind a curtain but the sink and toilet were in its own room with a heated floor. The included breakfast was very good and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We were impressed enough by the breakfast to have dinner in the restaurant one night and were not disappointed.

Room Tip: There is no elevator.
