I stayed 3 nights in December 2014. My room (#307) was small, but clean, quiet, and well equipped, but the hair dryer was missing. The bed was fine and the 37" flat TV was excellent. Breakfast was adequate. Reception was efficient and generally helpful.

The room seemed small because of the large beds. The water temperature was very long to change in the shower. Other than that, the hotel is alright on all aspects. Breakfast is simple but nourishing (service is not included in the price). The receptionists and waiter are always ready to help. The biggest asset of this hotel is definitely its location, in the middle of everything: Frontenac castle, Petit Champlain, the old town...

We stayed at this hotel for one night only, midweek in September 2014. The hotel was well-located for all that the old city has to offer. The room was small but clean and quiet. Great bathroom amenities. The hotel restaurant was nice.

The downsides included a very small front desk with only one person working. This meant we had to wait quite a few minutes for check in and check out while standing in a cramped corner. Also, not terribly friendly or knowledgeable front desk staff. When we called ahead to see when the room would be ready for check-in, we were told they couldn't tell us ahead of time and we would just have to turn up and see.

Parking was also difficult - were directed to a public park about 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. This would have been very inconvenient if we had more than an overnight bag. The hotel is on a walking street, so that's really all the parking available.

Dear guest,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience on Tripadvisor!

It’s a pleasure to read that you enjoyed our location. We are indeed very well located, close to all the famous attractions, restaurants and boutiques. We appreciate your feedback on the cleanness of our rooms and our bathroom amenities.

We do not have parking at the hotel. We usually recommend our guests to park at the city hall underground parking. This parking is situated at the end of the walking path. It is the cheapest parking in the old Quebec (17$ per day). It is also the closest one, only 5 minutes walking distance and they have an elevator to bring you down to every parking level.

We are sorry to read that you had to wait during your arrival and departure. We always try our best to answer each guest as soon as possible. Sadly, sometimes there are exceptions and you may have to wait a few minutes and we are deeply sorry about that.

Unfortunately, due to our small number of rooms, we cannot guarantee early arrivals over the phone. Our rooms are guaranteed at 3PM. We always try our best to make rooms available before that time, but we cannot promise it. Like in most hotels, if a room is ready when you arrive, it is always our pleasure for us to let you check in early, if not, we can store your luggage until check in time.

Once again, we thank you for sharing your comment and we would love to welcome you again!
Warmest regards

Dear guest,

Thank you for your kind comments!

We are thrilled to read that you had such a pleasant stay at our hotel. We are indeed situated in a very good location. Everything is at walking distance such as restaurants, main attractions and shops.

The room you stayed in is our deluxe room. We only have two like this in the whole hotel. It is a very spacious room with an authentic stone wall. It is a very pretty room.

Our restaurant is closed during the low season. For this reason we offer a continental breakfast served at the table. We did trying our best to offer as most choices as we could : A plate of fresh fruits, cereal, a choice of bread (white, whole wheat, gluten free), bagel or a fresh pastry all served with ham, cheese, vanilla yogurt with maple syrup and pork pate spread and of course with a choice of coffee, tea or juice. We understand that it may not be as filling as a regular restaurant breakfast, for this reason, it is always a pleasure for us to suggest you a restaurant nearby.

We hope to welcome you on your next trip to Quebec City!

See you very soon.

We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Saine-Anne. This quaint place is located along a pedestrian-only bit of the Rue Saine-Anne right in the middle of the old town area of Quebec City. Our flight was delayed so we arrived after midnight to find a room key in an envelope and a welcome note. The room was clean, not huge but large enough for us, with very comfortable beds and a clean bathroom with a terrific shower (torrent of water). There was a desk and a mini-fridge for storing cold drinks and wine/beer. Coffee and tea can be made with a Kurig machine. An ironing board and iron were on the side of a closet. There was free WiFi which was quite fast, and a nice-size TV with plentiful stations. Breakfast was included, and started with fresh fruit plates delivered to the table, coffee/tea/juice, followed by a choice of croissant with ham, pate, and cheese or the same with bagels or toast. Note that the tip is not included in the free breakfast and it's suggested that you leave $5 Canadian for the waiters (this is not a buffet). The staff were friendly and helpful (I'm not sure where some reviewers got the impression that anyone was gruff). About a block away is a great little urban grocery store (Epicerie Richard), which has all sorts of foods, wines, beer, cider, water, soft drinks, etc. (see my separate review) and a cash machine. There's also an exchange bank at the end of the block that has indoor ATMs. We ate only breakfast at the hotel, but there are a lot of restaurants within a few yards or blocks of the hotel. If you're driving, parking is available in a protected garage about one block away at City Hall; it's a bit pricey ($17 a day) but typical for a highly touristic area. You can park almost in front of the hotel in a ten-minute parking area to drop off your luggage and check in. Cabs wait just one block away if you need one. Overall, a very pleasant experience at a reasonable price.

A lovely hotel in a side street, but right by Chateau Fontenac and easy walking distance to all sights of Old Quebec. Great room, so different, and excellent shower. Staff on reception were very helpful. Breakfast is the best we've ever had. Good position if you're going on a cruise - you can walk down the hill to the terminal, or if you're not able to do that, it's a short taxi ride.

Room Tip: Can't comment on other rooms, but ours was overlooking the pedestrian street. The windows were...

Rude and unacomadating staff, room did not look like advertisement, bathroom was dirty, "scenic view" was of a garbage filled alleyway, and luggage must be carried, without a cart, over a block to the hotel, due to it's on a walking street. Wouldn't recommend it anybody. There are much better hotels nearby, find any one of them and stay there.

Room Tip: Find a different hotel.

Thank you for taking a moment of your time to share your review with us. We are sorry to hear that our hotel did not meet your expectations. Our guests’ comments are very important for us and we always treat them with the greatest importance.

Unfortunately, you cannot come in front of the hotel with the car. In fact, it is mentioned on every website that our hotel is situated on a pedestrian street. We are sorry to read that this was inconvenient for you. The underground garage is located at the corner of our street, and is a walking distance of about 3 minutes. We would have been obliged to provide you with all of this information, which is why we always recommend contacting us prior to arrival to make the transition as seamless as possible.

Every client is important to us and I can assure you that when available, our front desk staff is more than happy to assist. For this reason, I am certain that with a quick mention at the front desk, our staff would have gladly provided assistance with your luggage. The luggage cart is trickier because we do have 3 small steps at the front of the Hotel, but if needed, it would have been a pleasure to bring it down so you could bring it closer to your vehicle.

Like mentioned in our rooms descriptions, our Standard rooms and Junior Suites with two beds offer a view of an interior courtyard and others of a closed atrium. We are sorry to hear that you did not find the view appealing. However, it is mentioned on every website that those rooms Do Not offer any views of than those mentioned. For a nice view, we recommend our guests to book our Superior rooms or our Deluxe rooms. The ‘garbage filled Alleyway’ you are referring too, I believe, is our interior courtyard. It is simply an opened area facing other buildings; there are no garbage in this area, only tiles on the floor and a little of grass here and there. Please be assured that we do have a closed refrigerator inside the hotel that contains all of our garbage.

We are also sorry to hear that our receptionist was rude and unaccommodating. It is unacceptable. I was hoping to take a few minutes of your time to provide us more information on cleanliness of our rooms and the service of our staff. We always want to improve and every comment is taken very seriously. It would be appreciated if you could contact me at your convenience directly by email: s.thomassin@hotelste-anne.com or at our toll free number 1 877 222 9422.

We wish that the aforementioned issues were brought to our attention during your stay. This situation could have easily been rectified so that you could have enjoyed your stay as do the majority of our clientele.

We hope that you will give us another chance and if you decide to book again, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Enjoy the rest of your evening!
