“The perfect location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

The Hotel Sainte-Anne in Quebec City is the perfect location for immersing yourself into the history and quaintness of Old Quebec. It's a small boutique hotel with a good restaurant and helpful staff. Old Quebec was smaller than we realized from the maps and everything is within easy walking distance. This hotel's central location made it easy to return to the hotel for lunch or a break. My only negative comment is that our room on the 4th floor was apparently an attic in it's former days. My 6' tall husband could only stand up straight in about 1/3 of our very small room as we were under the rafters of the roof. The rafters were actually padded to prevent guests from knocking their heads on the beams. The bathroom was updated and clean, though small. We understood from our friends staying on the 3rd floor that their room had a normal ceiling height and ample room. I would love to stay here again, just not on the 4th floor!

Room Tip: Don't stay on the 4th floor under the slope of the roof!! You can't stand up straight in ove...

The Hotel Sainte Anne is located on rue Ste. Anne in the upper part of the Old City of Quebec, no more than two minutes from the tourist information center, less than ten minutes from the restaurants and shops of rue St. Jean, five minutes from the funicular to the Lower Town, next to several restaurants -- the Chateau Frontenac is the only place to equal the location. With the Old Town being a walker's paradise, with its shops and cafes everywhere, a central location like this is superb. Spoitlessly clean hotel, pleasant staff, exceptional shower in the re-done bathroom, new flat screen TVs, the only drawback during our October stay was the hotel restaurant being closed. Breakfast was well taken care of, though, with juice, yogurt, and a croissant hung by the room door in the morning, and the room,s Keurig coffee maker took care of the caffeine. We loved Quebec and hope to return, and we would certainly come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: The standard rooms were a little small, but adequate -- we would probably go for the next level up o...

There are so many things to like about the Sainte-Anne, but a few drawbacks and irritations. The location is excellent, but access is inconvenient if one is travelling by car with luggage as the hotel is on a limited access road and the nearest car park, currently under redevelopment, is well over 200 yards away.
The rooms are adequate in size and equipment but the windows could not be opened. They are reasonably priced. But, while staying there for two nights, the cleaners did not enter [no hangar was hung on our door prohibiting entry]; accordingly, we didn't think the envelope provided for tips merited reward. No laundry service available...just a map provided by the concierge on how to find a laundry 15 minutes walk away.
The staff were friendly. Would I go back...probably!
Breakfast was very adequate and provided free to residents...but does the server need to deliver consumers a zero invoice with a very specific request for a tip? Returning to the hotel at just before 9pm, no bar service was available.

Great city, great location, rooms were nicely appointed, a little dark, but again great location. We were a little befuddled by the lack of concern shown by the staff that several items were not available as they should have been. One being a TV remote in one of our rooms needed a new battery, this was obviously known when we told the young women working at the front desk, she said yes the remote needs a new battery, and we don't have any.... end of discussion. The other item of concern is that when we ordered our breakfast for the next day we checked off coffee with milk, upon delivery to the room there was no milk for the coffee. When we went down we were told there was no milk... That's it, not, we will get some, we are sorry, just we have no milk. No milk the next day or day three, even though we were told they might have some for day three, but alas none arrived... Good thing for a Starbucks at the end of the street. It really seemed like they were rolling up the service for the year as we went in October. Minor items and we laughed about each but really, no milk, no batteries??

Quebec City is a truly historic place and a pleasure to visit. It has a lot of hotels also within the ancient city walls.
About a 100 meters from the local Tourist Information you will find Hotel St. Anne. It's ideally situated in the old city within the city walls. The rooms are quiet, spacious, clean and reasonably priced. Breakfast is good as is dinner. You may find many hotels a lot more expensive but better? I doubt! If ever we come back, we will book Hotel St. Anne.

Spent several nights here in the spring. Our room was so quiet, homey & cozy and had a quaint, historic feel. Our room faced the front of the building and had a beautiful view of the city & mountain beyond. Loved the price most of all (very reasonable), and is very conveniently located. We did not have a car so appreciated that the hotel was within walking distance of everything in old town. The only thing that was difficult was the walk up the narrow spiral-like staircase after a long day of walking up and down the steep Quebec streets in every direction! The office/check-in is in the building next door, but that just made the room feel more like a private apartment instead of a business location, which was nice.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front of the building have the best view.

The location is absolutely perfect, walk to everything. Parking in the underground parking garage was just a short walk, no problem. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast that was included with our room price was fantastic, very pretty dining room and our room was very clean. The problem we had with the room was that it needed updating. For the money we paid you expect much nicer furniture it was a little worn, our tv remote didn't work, there was cheap radio/alarm clock in the room that didn't work at all. It did have a very nice bathroom, but it too was a little worn. We feel we can do better next time for the money that was spent. Overall it was a nice experience but expected a nicer looking room.
