“Great location, warm and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed with Mariele during a very cold snap in Quebec. Despite the incredibly cold weather we were warm and comfortable. Mariele is a fine host and very knowledgable about Quebec. She can make many suggestions about places to visit and is bilingual which is helpful for those with little French.

There are stairs - it's an older house.

There is also a lovely black cat who likes people. He's not pushy but he will join you at breakfast if you talk to him nicely. He doesn't come into the rooms so there is no cat fur or cat smell.

The place is very tidy and very clean.

We enjoyed our time there.

This was our second visit to Mason du Fort in the winter. We were there from 12/29-1/2/15. it was our fourth trip to Quebec City. It was wonderful and magical, there are no words to describe this city in winter! The inn is very cozy and welcoming. This visit we had room 1 and absolutely loved it. Beautiful view of the streets and St Lawrence as well as easily accessible. Kudos to Marielle's helper who keeps your room spotless and in order. But what can you say about an innkeeper such as Marielle? She is the perfect ambassador for this beautiful city and has a Je ne sais quoi that cannot be matched ! We just love her and her warm lilting Quebecois voice...
We will be back for our 5th Quebec City visit sooner rather than later.

We stayed in this lovely hotel in Old Quebec City for a few days after Christmas. It was one of the nicest experiences we have ever had in a hotel. Marielle, the owner, is exceptionally pleasant and attended to all our needs... often before we even had a chance to ask for something. She made sure we were comfortable and warm, despite the cold outside. You can tell right away that she really loves what she does. There is a nice assortment of breads and muffins, with some fruit and yogurt, served along with coffee each morning in the parlor. Our rooms were very clean, very nice, and very comfortable. The location is great for walking anywhere in Old Quebec. There are numerous fine restaurants close by. Marielle gives great recommendations and assists with reservations.

We went to Montreal for a few days mid-week, and returned to Quebec for the last couple of nights. Ordinarily, we like to have a lot of variety in our travels and upon our return we would have stayed in a new hotel just for a different experience. This time, we had already decided that Maison du Fort was where we wanted to be... so we stayed in different rooms. Each room there has its own character, so that provided the variety that we enjoy.

We will definitely return here in the warmer weather. The free wifi was very fast and reliable. The house cat is exceptionally friendly, as were all the people we met in Quebec.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Maison du Fort during the Christmas holiday this year. The weather was cold and wet, but we came "home" to a lovely, comfortable, spacious, spotless and quiet room on the third floor. We spent 3 days with Marielle (and Oscar the cat) and we could not have asked for anything more.

Marielle knows everything you need to know about Quebec City. She was amazingly helpful, personable and cheerful - a lovely woman!

The furniture and room details were amazing - exposed brick and pieces of furniture that were exquisite.

We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful, but if you want more light and a view, choose the top floor corner room...

Clean. Friendly. Warm. Every detail, just perfect! n the heart of Old Quebec, a jewel! Bedrooms spacious and welcoming. Spotlessly clean bathroom.
Many small attentions and details that make it unforgettable stay at this hotel. The owner always careful and helpful, prepares every morning warm muffins for breakfast! You can take a tray and bring breakfast in your room and eat it in front of the window that overlooks the San Lorenzo! A lovely fireplace in your bedroom, the atmosphere of the Paris of the century, but with Wifi and satellite TV in the room! A perfect combination of past and present in two steps away from Frontenac! Relationship between quality and price: excellent!

The weather outside was frightful, but Marielle, the owner of Masion du Fort, made sure we returned to a snug, delightful room. Number 6 was large and lovely, and had everything we needed for our comfort. Marielle was knowledgeable about Quebec City, helped us do everything we wanted, and was a cheerful and gracious host. Quelle Great!!!!

My mother and I stayed at Maison du Fort in 2012, and returned again last weekend. Once again, we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the city, the other guests, the room, the decor, and Marielle's wonderful hospitality. Adding to our pleasure was meeting Oscar, the new house cat, who is a sizeable creature of 22 pounds and amazingly friendly (proving true once again that cats take on the personalities of the people around them). I'd recommend hotel to anyone. It's ideally located inside the city walls, near the Citadel and the Plains of Abraham, and near shopping and restaurants.
