We are Montrealers who love Vieux Québec, our corner of old Europe. We've stay in Vieux Québec on a couple of occasions, but that was our first time in an actual old house of the city. (Our previous stay was at Chateau Frontenac a few years ago, but I left with the feeling that they did all they could to hide the fact that the building is 100 years old, so you end up in very modern rooms that lack the "vieux Québec" experience.) All that to say that this time, we were aiming at one of these charming old house, and we found it at Clos Saint-Louis. It is fantastically located halfway between Porte Saint-Louis and the Chateau Frontenac, with the Plaines d’Abraham almost in the backyard. The inside kept all its old charm with fine furniture, nice panelling, old water radiators, etc. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast in the basement. As expected in old houses, you may hear a bit the people in the other rooms and the water flowing in the pipes, but hey, you’re in a 170-year-old house after all. Although it is not cheap, Clos Saint-Louis is definitely a great, romantic place to bring your wife to!

My wife has long wanted to see Quebec and Montreal which we finally did about a month ago, In Quebec, we spent three nights in Hotel Le Clos St Louis and thoroughly enjoyed out stay. Its location is ideal, in Old Town and within convenient walking distance for excellent restaurants and places to visit. Paul was very helpful in guiding us to desirable restaurants and sights.
The room was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and served by individual ordering instead of the usual buffet or self-serve.
We liked it and suggest that you put it at the top of your list when seeking accommodations in Quebec.

From the moment we entered "Le Clos", we were more than fully satisfied. With all of Old Quebec City directly out the door, we thoroughly enjoyed all this beautiful location afforded. We both will certainly return, if only to discuss with the ever charmant Paul his next travel adventure. Brazil!

This is a very well appointed hotel that successfully executed the feel of a large B&B. Our room was wonderful - full of charm with brick and stone walls and nice decor. Everything is super clean and well maintained. You get your choice of items for breakfast. Our server was friendly and we had some great conversations with him. The hotel is within walking distance of everything you'd want to see and do - just a few blocks from the promenade along the St. Lawrence River. We highly recommend it.
