“Great Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2014

Took a bit of a chance because it is not a standard hotel chain and was very pleased. This hotel has recently been entirely renovated and is decorated with contemporary styles and colours. There is a very tastefully decorated restaurant on site but the prices were rather expensive so we ate elsewhere, and there are ALOT of restaurant options in the area. Conveniently located to major highways, shopping and about 15-20 minute drive into the old walled area of the city. We definitely recommend and will return.

Bonjour,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write that good review about our Hotel. I hope that when you are talking about renovated rooms, you had the chance to try one of our newest rooms. We are currently renovating all our rooms with one bed. Otherwise, you will be able to try it next time!

You are absolutely right when you are saying we are close from everything. Even if you do not have a car, it is pretty easy to go around to different places as restaurants, shopping centre and Old Quebec.

Again, thank you for your review and we hope to be able to welcome you again.

Kind regards,

Kassandra

This hotel is a very sure bet next to the Pierre-Laporte bridge and two major freeways. For $115 all taxes included, you can't beat that. Very clean and comfortable accomodation. For a family trip, it's perfect and it's walking distance to the aquarium. Yes it's an old hotel/motel that has been FULLY renovated and now looks very modern. The sleep quality was excellent. I have two less-positive comments: 1) we had a reservation for 4 people in the room, but there was only towels kits for 3... Little detail but this kind of things has an impact. And 2) the breakfast buffet (not the Sunday brunch) is kind of simplistic for $11... Hotels can be more creative, because for this price as we ran out of the hotel to the Normandin and for less, we had much more choices...

Bonjour,

Thank you very much for your great review about our hotel. You are right when you are saying that we are really close from the briges and main highways. We are also close, walking distance, from some restaurants and the Aquarium of Quebec.
Even if we are recently renovated, we are now doing some other renovations. We will change all the furnitures in the room, so it will be worth seeing!

I take good note of your remarks regarding the towels and the breakfast. I am really sorry that it affected your stay with us.

I am still hoping to be able to welcome you again.

Kind regards,

Kassandra

Located about 15 minutes from Old Quebec and near shopping centers.

The staff is very friendly and we loved our stay. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.

We also liked the free parking and Wi-Fi.

We booked this hotel after reading good reviews from TA; specifically we wanted free parking and wi-fi and they do offer a shuttle in to Old Quebec City. We had requested a quiet room on the top floor and they had pre-assigned us a great room. We are light sleepers and this hotel is located right off of a major highway and could be noisy if your room is on the highway side.

Bedding is very comfortable and the daily complimentary Nespresso coffee, an added plus! (we are thinking of buying one of those smaller machines) We drove in to the city the first night and parking there can be an issue - we were eventually able to find on street parking...you pay at a machine for your parking stall. A funny tidbit re: trying to print a parking ticket - the two in our group who went to the machine were having a difficult time trying to decipher how to use it as it was in French, naturally. After 10 minutes, they tried asking the person behind them and she spoke no Engilsh; a second person finally spoke up and pointed to the "English button" ...duh. Our group had such a laugh... as between the two trying to print the ticket, they had 4 degrees between them and couldn't figure it out.

p.s. we were awakened the first night after midnight when a couple came in to the room next to us, slammed their door and turned on the TV - walls are thin! Upon checking with the front desk, were told they were checking out the next day so our second night was quiet.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor away from the highway side are quieter.

Bonjour,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience. I am glad to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. We chose to offer beddings of high quality and I am flattered when it is noticed.
Your story about the parking meter was quite funny. I am happy to know it ended well. There are also public parkings that are much easier to deal with, and public transportation could have been also a great alternative. Maybe next time you will have the chance to try it!

I am really sorry that your room neighbors were noisy. Do not hesitate to contact us at the reception when it arrives. We can warn them.

Hoping to welcome you again,

Kind regards,

Kassandra

This hotel is very clean, modern and quiet. It reminds me of a boutique style scandinavian hotel. The bathroom/shower is very functional and there is Korres toiletries which is a nice touch. Coffeemaker (Nespresso) and fridge is also nice. Ample free parking.
If you arrive at night, you may have a hard time finding it as there is not a lot of light and no big sign.
We had the breakfast there (buffet) but I do not recommend it: Limited choice and scrambled eggs were not good. You have many other choices around that are much better.
All in all, it was a good choice and the price was very good.

Room Tip: upgrade the room and ask for the 2nd floor.

Rooms are small but adequate, comfortable and clean. The shuttle service to Vieux Quebec was perfect if you did not care to drive and search for parking closer to the city. We would have enjoyed using the heated swimming pool but were told it closes the 1st of September, which seems a bit too early.

Room Tip: Hotel is close to a busy highway but we did not hear excessive noise. If leaving the city early in t...

Bonjour,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about our hotel. We do have an usefull shuttle from the hotel to the Old Quebec. It runs twice a day, until the second week of October.

About the pool, I am really sorry that you did not have the chance to experience it. We keep it open only during our big touristic season which is from the end of June until the first week end of September.

I am glad to read that you enjoyed your stay with us.

Hoping to welcome you again,

Spent 4 nights at Hotel Sepia, and really had a wonderful time. The hotel front desk staff was terrific, and very helpful. The building and grounds were very well kept. Our room was immaculate with more than enough room for the two of us - we had a two queen bed standard room. The price was more than very reasonable for Quebec this time of year.Location is a few miles from the main tourist areas, but there is a free convenient shuttle to the old town if you don't want to drive. However, if you do want to drive into the Old Town, which is only 15 minutes away, there are two very reasonable parking lots at the end of Wlifrid -Laurier by the Quebec Armory - $8 flat rate for 12 hours. The hotel only has two floors, and it really isn't a hassle one bit to use the stairs due to no elevator. A Metro Market within walking distance with a nice reasonable breakfast restaurant next door to it. We ate at Le Maison and a Pizza place within walking distance which were both fine.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the bridges, makes for a great view and sunset.
