“Lovely, small hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Auberge du Quartier is a very nice small hotel within a comfortable walking distance of Old Quebec (about 3/4 of a mile away). It is a comfortable walk down to the old town and just a little more effort to go back as it is slightly uphill. Our room was on the third floor (there is a lift) and very quiet as there is no one above. The room was in good working order and very modern and clean. Breakfast was continental - cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels - but warm croissants were offered, served at the table and delicious! Isabelle and Sebastian at the front desk were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The third floor would be quiet as there are no rooms above. Don't know about the lower floors...

We booked a room in this seemingly-charming hotel for the long weekend. It turned out that our room was in the basement, down a flight of stairs and a long, stuffy corridor. The room was small, nicely designed, and very clean. Kudos to this hotel for cleanliness. The basement room had a funny smell (like many basements do) and a tiny window. I didn't enjoy this hotel experience. This place reminds me of a stuffy hostel. We should have been warned that there was construction on the main road. The wifi is slooooow. The hotel charges for parking ($15/day) - I thought this was a bit ridiculous given that the place is in the middle of nowhere. And they pre-charged us for breakfast, that we never intended to have there. We were given little paper breakfast tickets ...another hostel move, in poor taste.

In terms of location: it's about a 20-25 minute walk to the city gates (Old Quebec)...it's a manageable walk but you don't want to forget your umbrella and walk back. Distance is a bit inconvenient. However, the hotel is seconds away from Avenue Cartier, a busy restaurant and shop strip where we had most of our meals.

Hello Mrs. Jackson,

First of all, thank you for commenting on your experience at Auberge du Quartier. Your appreciation in regards to the cleanliness of our premises confirms that our efforts are successful. In regards to your room choice, we have 4 floors and 11 room types to choose from and they are all very well described on our web site in order to help you make a clear choice. If you did not see in the room description the floor level and were unhappy, a quick visit to our front desk and our staff would have been more than happy to give you another room.

Our hotel is located in the Montcalm district which is extremely popular among the people of the region. Apart from being a 20 minute walk from the old city, the quality of the shops, the restaurants, the Plains of Abraham, the National Museum of Fine Arts make that the parking spaces are very rare in the area. A 15$ parking fee for peace of mind is usually very much appreciated by our customers, of course the choice of renting parking space remains at the client's discretion .

We hope to see you again in our hotel. I suggest you call us directly and we will be able to advise you on your room choice as well as what to visit in our beautiful Arts District .

Stayed for two nights over the weekend. Hotel is in a great location just outside of Old Quebec that has a lot of tourist attractions. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Parking was $15 per night extra. But the good part is you can leave your car at the hotel and just walk to Old Quebec. Breakfast was good as well.

We had a wonderful time in Quebec the 2 days stay at the hotel was good the staff was courteous the breakfast was great. Just a walking distance to the centre of Quebec city historical places, lots of Canada history. For the type of accommodation we found the rate to pricy being in a basement room but the rest was great. We would go back. The location is perfect. There is a charge for parking.

Room Tip: If you do not like a basement accommodation make sure you ask were the room would be located.

Dear Mr Frank G,

First, let us thank you for the time you took to write a great review about our hotel. Indeed, our location is very convenient since as you said we are walking distance from everything there is to see. We make it our mission for our staff to be attentive to the needs of our guests thus we are glad that you noticed it. For our breakfast, we try to have as many choices as we can to please our guests. As for the price, it was a long weekend thus our prices go up on those days and it would be the same for all hotels. Unfortunately, because we are in a good area next to downtown there are no free parking this is why there is a charge. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you for your next visit to our wonderful city.

Sincerely,

Isabelle M

We had a suite with a double room and king room. The king room was amazingly spacious with a sofa, dressing table and TV - however the double room was windowless, and the bed could not be walked around without hitting your head. This was ok in our circumstance where there was a couple in the king room and a single person in the double room and we were only there for two nights, but I think if it were two couples, one would certainly have felt they got a bad deal. There was a nice terrace on the top of the building and a small dedicated terrace for the room. The room also have a little reception area with a table surrounded by stools that we used for drinking and playing cards.

Room Tip: Do not get the suite if you are two couples travelling as one of the rooms is windowless.

Dear UniqueIdentity,

First, let us thank you for taking the time to write a comment about your stay in our hotel. Indeed the terrace on the roof is really nice and you were lucky to get your private one. As for the room size, we are sorry to hear that it was not what you expected. We try to accomodate our guests as best as we can thus we decided to do a suite with the place we had. We are aware that it is not the most sapacious room but it can still be practical and enjoyable for a family or two couples. Also, to do that little reception area with the table and stools was important to us in order for our guest to have a place to gather like you did.

We hope to see you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Isabelle M

We stayed at the Auberge du Quartier for one night over the weekend and we loved our experience. Our room, a junior suite, was very very clean, very well decorated with a modern taste and the bathroom was of a good size, with a shower instead of a bath but very clean.

The Auberge is situated at a walking distance to the Old city, the Plains of Abraham and, the Grande Allée where we can find some good restaurants is just a stroll away.

Our continental breakfast was excellent with plenty of healthy choices. We will definitely return to the Auberge du Quartier for a getaway weekend.

My wife and I and our daughter and partner enjoyed a two night stay at Auberge du Quartier. We liked that the Auberge was in walking distance of the old city and ramparts and located in the cultural district. We enjoyed sleeping in the economically priced king sized beds in the Budda themed rooms. Breakfast was available in a pleasant atmosphere at a fair price. While all the staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning next year or even this summer.
