“A wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

The room was wonderful, a lot like a fine French garote if you had some cash in the 19th Century, The staff is helpful and excellent and the location can't be beat. Across the park from the Frontinac and an easy walk to almost everywhere you would want to stroll in the central city.

A gem!

If your looking for a quite, clean place, that is within the historic part of Quebec city, which is close to all the places to see, this hotel is for you.

The hotel service was simple and the people there are very helpful. They made sure you were well taken care of and manage the hotel efficiently. Our room was a room with a queen size bed. Very clean, has everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The rooms are small, but was good enough for us. We only needed the room to sleep. We stayed for 3 nights near the end of April 2014. When we booked, we made sure to book using the hotel website. Prices are the same, if not better, and you get breakfast included. Breakfast was a continental type of breakfast, which includes bagels, toast, cake, waffles, crepes, a selection of yogurt, fruit, and a variety of cereal. Coffee, cappuccino, expresso, hot chocolate a variety of teas are all free 24/7. Oh, and juice as well.

I recommend this hotel for anyone who wishes to stay at a good clean hotel. If I had to go back to Quebec City, i'd book this hotel again.

Free wifi is available and the service was pretty good too. Fast enough for me to connect to work and call loved ones via skype or facetime.

I gave this hotel a 4 star rating just because it exceeded my expectations but I didn't give it 5 stars as it's not perfect. Rooms can be bigger and walls appear to be thin as you can hear your neighbours.

We could not have picked a better place to stay. We chose the best room and were very pleased. The staff, whether it be Alex, Nicholas, Nancy or others couldn't have been more pleasant, courteous or helpful. The location is outstanding and the view overlooking the park and the river just added to the experience. Parking, although an additional charge, takes the concern and worry about what or where to put your vehicle, yet they will get it for you in a few minutes whenever you desire to do sightseeing outside the city (the falls, St. Anne de Beaupre, the Isle of Orleans).
A few minutes walk down the hill to the finest restaurants and most all the attractions further enhances the location and saves you the time to do more and enjoy the sights. Although this was our first visit to Quebec City, it won't be our last and our stay will always be at the Hotel Chateau Bellevue.

We stayed at Chateau Bellevue for 3 nights in the end of March 2014 and the first impression of the hotel was really good. Alex, at the front desk, checked us in and was very polite and helpful. We had free wi-fi and free coffee, juice and fruits during our stay. He gave us vouchers for breakfast that would cost $8.95 per person per day, but we never used them. Getting to our room, we realized the hotel is much bigger than it seems, but still cozy and charming. Our room was quite small so as the bathroom. However, the view of the Governor's Park and Chateau Frontenac compensated it. We were on the top floor (3rd) and has the amazing view as you can see in the pictures. The location is awesome! We walked everywhere through the city without any problem (besides the snow and wintry mix!). One night, the snow storm was so heavy that we decided to stay in the room and Alex helped us again. He ordered a pizza for us. It took a while to get there, but he advised that it could take longer due to the storm. So, overall, we were having a very nice stay at the hotel.
On our check-out day, we asked it to be at 12:30pm and they agreed. Alex told us the taxi to the airport had a fixed price of $34.50 (we arrived by train and the taxi was like $15.00) and that it would take 5 minutes to get there. Well, we got to the front desk around 12:20pm and another couple arrived at the same time to check-out. We let them go first and waited. When we were waiting, another couple arrived and started talking to the guys that were checking-out. Alex finished the process with the first couple and without saying a word to us, started helping the second couple! My wife told him we got there first and that we had to go the airport. He totally ignored her and gave her a "side smile". The group of 4 was in separate rooms, had a car and was paying with a credit card. So, their process would take much more time than ours, because our room was prepaid and we had to rush to the airport. My wife got really mad and I think Alex saw her face. He then called the taxi for us while checking the couple out. When the group was finally done, Alex said that the taxi was in its way and I returned the breakfast vouchers. He said that our bill was zeroed and that was it. So, we felt that the group of 4 had some kind of preferred treatment by the hotel or some kind of rewards card. It was really sad to leave the hotel with that memory...
If it wasn't for that, I would give the hotel a 5-star review.

Room Tip: Ask for a park view.

Bonjour VandMarion,

Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are glad you had a nice stay with us, and I am sorry about what happened during your check-out. I can assure you all our customers are equally important to us. The only reason the two couples checked-out at the same time was because the bill was for both rooms.

We truly hope we will welcome you again in the future !

Stayed here for 4 nights in the only two (double) bed room they have. Breakfast included, basic but it all helps to control holiday costs. Staff were excellent, very helpful and happy to speak in English if you get stuck...but will let you have a go without interrupting you. Room was good, the only downside being that we were located under and to the side of the main entrance which meant that occasionally noise was intrusive, for the most part it was not a problem. Free coffee/juice 24/7 and Wine at $6CAD per 70cl glass from a machine, food/drink/ice dispensing machines on basement floor. Great little Epicerie (RIchards) less than 5 minutes walk http://www.yelp.ca/biz/epicerie-richard-quebec), perfect base for discovering Quebec City.

Bonjour MikeDuberry,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to post your lovely review. We are indeed very fortunate to be located in such a great area ! As far as your room location is concerned, I am happy to learn the noise was only occasionally intrusive, and that it did not spoil your stay. Let me remind you, for your next stay, that you can ask for a quiet room, maybe one on a upper floor.

We are sincerely looking forward to welcoming you again !

This hotel is located in a great location overlooking the river.. Its close enough that you can walk to most major attractions in town.

room was small and comfortable, yet it was still spacious enough to move around the room. private bathroom was large enough to be functional.

Free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and juice are available throughout the day for guests.

Breakfast costs $8 for a "continental" breakfast that consists of toast and cereal. You can find much better food and prices in the city.

overall a pretty good place to stay

This was a very nice hotel that was surprisingly reasonably priced. It is next to the Chateau Frontenac, in the heart of Quebec City. The room was not large, but the queen bed was comfortable and the room was well appointed. Breakfast was included and was good. An important note, when parking your vehicle in front of the hotel for check-in make sure it is pointing in the direction of the flow of traffic for that side of the street. Although it is a space just for the hotel, the City of Quebec will ticket you if you don't park pointing in the right direction. We experienced this misfortune and the hotel took responsibility for the ticket which was very nice of them, however, it is annoying for everyone and an unnecessary expense.
