“Great hotel, easy walk to every where...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

Stayed here for 4 nights in the only two (double) bed room they have. Breakfast included, basic but it all helps to control holiday costs. Staff were excellent, very helpful and happy to speak in English if you get stuck...but will let you have a go without interrupting you. Room was good, the only downside being that we were located under and to the side of the main entrance which meant that occasionally noise was intrusive, for the most part it was not a problem. Free coffee/juice 24/7 and Wine at $6CAD per 70cl glass from a machine, food/drink/ice dispensing machines on basement floor. Great little Epicerie (RIchards) less than 5 minutes walk http://www.yelp.ca/biz/epicerie-richard-quebec), perfect base for discovering Quebec City.

Bonjour MikeDuberry,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to post your lovely review. We are indeed very fortunate to be located in such a great area ! As far as your room location is concerned, I am happy to learn the noise was only occasionally intrusive, and that it did not spoil your stay. Let me remind you, for your next stay, that you can ask for a quiet room, maybe one on a upper floor.

We are sincerely looking forward to welcoming you again !

This hotel is located in a great location overlooking the river.. Its close enough that you can walk to most major attractions in town.

room was small and comfortable, yet it was still spacious enough to move around the room. private bathroom was large enough to be functional.

Free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and juice are available throughout the day for guests.

Breakfast costs $8 for a "continental" breakfast that consists of toast and cereal. You can find much better food and prices in the city.

overall a pretty good place to stay

This was a very nice hotel that was surprisingly reasonably priced. It is next to the Chateau Frontenac, in the heart of Quebec City. The room was not large, but the queen bed was comfortable and the room was well appointed. Breakfast was included and was good. An important note, when parking your vehicle in front of the hotel for check-in make sure it is pointing in the direction of the flow of traffic for that side of the street. Although it is a space just for the hotel, the City of Quebec will ticket you if you don't park pointing in the right direction. We experienced this misfortune and the hotel took responsibility for the ticket which was very nice of them, however, it is annoying for everyone and an unnecessary expense.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel where we have stayed in the past. Rooms are now smaller than when we were here years ago since renovations so you would need to enquire if more than one bed is required. The staff are friendly and helpful and beds are comfortable but most important you are located next to the Chateau Frontenac, so you have an excellent location near cafes and shops and walks in both upper and lower town. the rooms are reasonably priced and booking online includes continental breakfast which is usually charged separately, and being Quebec, there is also a chaffing dish of fresh crepes in maple syrup. There is also a (by the glass) wine dispenser in the lobby. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends.

Room Tip: It is cheaper to book online on the hotel's website but you can call and ask for specifics such...

Bonjour Ann Maureen O,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this review ! I am very happy you have had a nice stay with us. However, if I may, I'll like to clarify none of our rooms has been downsized. We have actually decreased the number of rooms we had in order to have bigger room types, such as Distinction and Prestige rooms. Make sure you check them out next time !

Looking forward to welcoming you again.

We truly enjoyed our stay this weekend during winter carnival. Perfect location, comfortable room and very friendly, helpful staff. We were greeted at the desk the first day by a tall blonde jovial fellow who set a very warm and welcoming tone for our stay. Back to location - couldn't be better, with a view of the St. Lawrence just out the front door, and best of the old city within blocks, though happily on a quiet park just out of the bustle.. Our room was small, but that's just what was advertised and it was just right - clean, good (double) mattress, with all we needed. Oh, and the parking, which we paid a reasonable $14 or 17 per day for was well worth it, quick and convenient (when it last we decided to retrieve our car), though we ended up leaving the car parked the whole time as everything we wanted to check out was within walking distance. The continental breakfast had a wide selection, and it was handy to have coffee drinks available round the clock, though we are primarily tea drinkers and an automatic tea kettle would have been a nice addition, as the water from the coffee machine wasn't hot enough to make a nice cup. Finally the elevator smelled like cigarettes and was painfully slow - but then we found the stairs and all was well. The walls were a bit thin. But again these are very small complaints - otherwise a lovely stay.

I chose this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews. I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a good location with good reviews. This hotel did not disappoint. It located in Old Quebec, in front of a park that overlooks the Chateau Frontenac to the left and the St. Lawrence River. The purpose of our trip was to experience Carnival. This hotel was perfectly located to many of the carnival events. We stayed in a basic room, that looked out the backside of the hotel . into the alley. I think it would have been nicer to pay the extra and get a room looking out over the park and the river. That said, while our room was on the small side, it fit my daughter and I just fine. The hotel room was very clean. I could hear faint talking in the room next to us and if anyone walked down the hallway it sounded as if they were in your room. So it wasn't overly quiet. But since this was during normal waking hours it didn't bother us. The hotel offered a breakfast in the morning. It was adequate enough for us to start the day. It served fruits, yogurt, cereal, breads and crepes with coffee and juice. Coffee/tea and juice was available 24/7 which was nice to come home to after walking outdoors all day. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The highlight for me was the electronic wine bar in the lobby. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation if you are looking for a basic hotel with good value in a great location.

Room Tip: Choose a room that overlooks the park and the St. Lawrence.

Thank you for a wonderful 5 nights at the Chateau Bellevue! The rooms were perfect, the location the best for walking everywhere including Carnavale, the lobby warm and inviting! I can’t say enough about all the staff who helped with special cab and tour arrangements, and what a neat electronic wine bar – first time we have seen one of those! We strongly recommend Chateau Bellevue for anyone going to Quebec – no long hallways, crowded reception areas, or cookie cutter lobbies. Chateau Bellevue atmosphere added to our trip because we weren’t in just another chain hotel. Marianne and Ed, Lake Villa, IL. (I'm a real person, not a company making this up! )
