“Absolutely loved it!!”

We were told by someone in Montreal that this quaint little place was THE place to stay. Was it ever! The staff was extremely friendly, room was lovely, the sight from the balcony (Room 13) was outstanding (why pay to stay at the Frontenac when you have an excellent view of it from your window??) We enjoyed being able to sit on the balcony and listen to the street musicians on the boardwalk. This place gets an A+++.

The location is great, overlooking the Dufferin Terrace & St. Lawrence River. Service is friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We have stayed there several times and will continue to use their lodging whenever we are in Quebec.

My family & I recently stayed at the hotel and found the facility to be old but charming. The location can not be beat. It's better than the Chateau Frontenac because of the terrific view of the Frontenac from the hotel. Each morning the staff delivered a continental breakfast to the room. We were fortunate to stay on Canada Day (July 1st) and watched the military ceremonies from our balcony overlooking the Terrasse Dufferin Boardwalk and the St. Lawrence River. Interesting sidelight-- it's attached to the US Consulate in Quebec so there was a police officer stationed outside the hotel almost every day. A word of warning- there is no elevator and no bell hops to carry your luggage. So pack light or book a room on the ground floor (not the 1st floor which is up two flights of stairs); but if you do that, you give up the view and luxury of a room with a balcony.

Move over, Frontenac. Your rooms and suites still need refurbishing and simply can't compare in value to this small, well-kept hotel. Besides, I don't think there's even a single (except the rooftop royal suite) Frontenac "balcony" that overlooks the St. Laurent or the boardwalk. Not so at the CdlTD. I've stayed here a number of times and would resist staying at another hotel with protest, including kicking and screaming. LOL Honestly THIS is the best value in all of QC. My favorite room/suite is #14, which is quite spacious and has all the expected in-room amenities--PLUS the best balcony (in my opinion). I once stayed there through Canada Day, sat on the balcony with my travel partner, ate wonderful croissants, cheese and pate and sipped wine while looking down on the crowd of thousands on the boardwalk, boats on the river, "Snowbirds" putting on their spectacular over-water jet show and after-sunset fireworks. Now, top that, Frontenac--and at a price You, M. Frontenac, could never offer. After you read this, Fellow QC Lovers, do stay at the CdlTD, but PLEASE keep it a secret. It's a for-your-best-friends-only place. We'd hate to see it snatched up by some big chain. Every "venue" has its best and virtually unknown feature. This is Quebec City's.

A group of 4 spent 4 days at this hotel during the Quebec Winter Carnival and found it very comfortable, clean, staff were very congenial and most of all within walking distance to all sites not to mention the great view of the St. Lawrence.
Looking forward to returning.
