Move over, Frontenac. Your rooms and suites still need refurbishing and simply can't compare in value to this small, well-kept hotel. Besides, I don't think there's even a single (except the rooftop royal suite) Frontenac "balcony" that overlooks the St. Laurent or the boardwalk. Not so at the CdlTD. I've stayed here a number of times and would resist staying at another hotel with protest, including kicking and screaming. LOL Honestly THIS is the best value in all of QC. My favorite room/suite is #14, which is quite spacious and has all the expected in-room amenities--PLUS the best balcony (in my opinion). I once stayed there through Canada Day, sat on the balcony with my travel partner, ate wonderful croissants, cheese and pate and sipped wine while looking down on the crowd of thousands on the boardwalk, boats on the river, "Snowbirds" putting on their spectacular over-water jet show and after-sunset fireworks. Now, top that, Frontenac--and at a price You, M. Frontenac, could never offer. After you read this, Fellow QC Lovers, do stay at the CdlTD, but PLEASE keep it a secret. It's a for-your-best-friends-only place. We'd hate to see it snatched up by some big chain. Every "venue" has its best and virtually unknown feature. This is Quebec City's.
