“Modern room in an old part of Quebec”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We had a very nice stay in the Quebec Room (semi-basement) of the hotel. With the blinds closed, you can't tell. It's a sizeable room, with a comfortable bed and a nice whirlpool bath. Quite private, we barely heard any noise. The breakfast was nice - croissants, muffins, yogurt and fruit. The only downside was that the fireplace was more like an electric fireplace than a real one.

Room Tip: Quebec Room (basement) was very nice.

Just finished a 3 day visit to Quebec and stayed at the neatest hotel. I am home from Afghanistan for a week on R&R and my wife and I thought Quebec would be a great place to visit to rest and recharge. Spot on! I found this hotel using trip advisor and we could not have Ben more pleased. The location is unbeatable except by the kind and courteous staff. We were upgraded to a king size bed which we greatly appreciated. My wife has a tricky back and the quality mattress was a plus. With nine pillows to choose from, there were 2 that were perfect. The room was very nice, quiet and met all of our needs. The breakfast in the morning came in the sweetest iconic basket and with the in room coffee and tea, we started each day ready to explore and find the wonders of the city. The staff set us up with a walking tour, told us how to make it in to the last showing of cirque De solei, and gave excellent directions, in both French and English! Restaurant recommendations were right the spot as well including parking!
The hotel was a great value. We had a car so the parking pass worked out great. Can not say enough except we will be back!

This small hotel was a delightful respite in our trip. Clean and conveniently located, it offers much for its size. Room was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom could use and ugrade. Close proximatey to all the sights of the city (walking distance). And as an extra surprise, we were provided with continental breakfast (from Paillard) and a walking tour, gratis.

Room Tip: No views to speak of, but given its location, very quiet.

Just had a wonderful three night stay. The staff were terrific: very friendly; helpful with suggestions. Our room was clean and attractive. Very nice that they provide you with an in-room breakfast, served in a basket. As others have noted, the location is ideal. Only problem: wish we had planned to stay for four nights, instead of three!

Wonderful. We spent 8 nights here and loved it. Our room (113) was right in the front of the hotel overlooking rue St-Jean, which we initially thought would be a problem, but it was not. At breakfast and appetizer time we had a great view of the torrents of people strolling the city, but in the room it was perfectly quiet and so comfortable!
The location is great. The old city is really pretty small, but HVQ is near the center so it's easy to get everywhere in little time.
If you plan to refrigerate food, as we do, for lunches and appetizers, please ask for a fridge. The one that's in the room is supposed to be a mini-bar (we found this out the hard way). After our veggies froze the first night we called the front desk and within ten minutes we had a real fridge, no extra charge and no further problems.
The breakfast is neat, too. We decided we love espresso from the Nespresso machine - have to get one for home. The breakfast options are fine, although we don't drink fruit juice (too much acid and sugar) and the yogurt was of the very sugary variety, and in the land of wonderful cheese, why do they offer P'tit Quebec? Oh, well - we did fine with granola, blueberries, croissants, pastry, hard-cooked eggs, oranges... actually took extra pastry with us a few times.
Parking is GREAT. We loved being able to take our car out whenever we wanted, which was occasionally. In town you won't need it, but if you want to go hiking in les Laurentides, or visit Canyon Ste-Anne it's necessary.
Finally, the shower in our room was awesome. We called it the spa shower. At home we have a well, so the water pressure is low-ish and we always enjoy hotel showers, but this one should win some kind of prize.
Our new home in QC!

Bravo to Aurélie and Pierrot who made our stay here excellent. Aurélie, a young woman who had recently arrived from France, checked us in and out with great efficiency and gave us great suggestions for dinner. Pierrot was right there to help us with parking (difficult in this historic zone) and always ready to lend a hand with a smile and a kind word.
The room was spacious with a beautiful stone wall, hardwood floor and an artificial fireplace. We had a spacious shower with all the amenities - luxurious. The hotel has no restaurant, which can be a drawback, but they do have a large, comfortable lounge area with a fireplace, games, books, a computer station, etc. Breakfast is served in a small basket hung on a hook on your door in the morning (typical in Quebec) and an expresso coffee maker is in the room. (We could have had a few more capsules.)
The location of the hotel couldn't be better. Sure the parking is hard, but leave the car and walk. The hotel is right in the middle of the historic area: ramparts, near the river walk and plenty of shops to explore. Despite all the activity, the room was not only visually appealing but quiet and relaxing. A very nice stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine, but the higher up the less noise. A room away from the elevator was very qui...
