“Nice, modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

My wife and I just returned from a two-nite stay at this hotel. My impressions are very positive. The decor is very modern and clean. The staff were quite helpful. Maybe the best part of the room was the bathroom, it has a big walk-in shower that was very enjoyable. The restaurant attached to the property is a little pricy for what it sells but it is certainly acceptable. The location isn't perfect but it is easy to access with a car. All-in-all we liked the hotel: it was clean, quiet, modern, and comfortable.

This hotel in the downtown of Quebec is pretty average. From appearances they have tried to recently remodel and modernise but it just feels incomplete. The lobby area is quite nice and the dark corridors are different which many people on here are divided on.

The room we had was renovated and quite sizable but there were signs of a half done job with the renovations. There was a hole behind the air con unit that they had forgotten to patch up and paint, a towel rack that was loose and crooked and a crack in the bathroom which hadnt been fixed. Despite this, the room felt very clean due to the new furnishings and new carpet.

The hotel does offer free wifi but it struggles to cope with the volume of people. Seemed to work at odd hours when I assume the majority of guests are sleeping but really struggled at other times. The coffee machine in the lobby is a great idea but it needs constant attention as milk runs out, beans run out etc

Location was the hotel isn't too bad with some eateries around the neighbourhood but it is definitely a fair distance from Vieux Quebec City. A taxi can quickly take you out there for under $10 which will save a half hour walk.

The spa and sauna was pretty good and seemed seldom used during my stay (which is a good thing).

Room Tip: with floor to ceiling glass windows, ask for a room facing the cathedral ?

We stayed for the Labour Day weekend. When we arrived, our room was not ready due to an unexpected amount of people checking-out. We got our room one hour later (4:00 pm). I understand it is not the staff's fault, but they were very defensive. The room was very clean. We had a nice view St. Joseph est. The bed was very, very comfortable and we slept really well. There is no coffee in the room; there is an espresso machine in the lobby area that makes great coffee. You just have to be presentable before you get your coffee!! The location is great. The St.Roch area deserves to be discovered. One odd thing. There were no hooks or closet space for our clothes. Luckily this was not a business trip, or else, I would have needed to find some way around that.

I went to Quebec City for the Labour Day weekend with a friend, and we stayed at the TRYP Hotel PUR in St Roch Quarter. We had a great room, comfortable bed, and the staff was very welcoming and really polite with not only us but to all customers that came to the hotel.
I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to go to Quebec City. The price was really good, Very affordable. This hotel used to be the Holiday Inn on Rue de la Couronne, now the PUR hotel, very modern and great comfy rooms.
I give it 4 stars.

Room Tip: rooms to the East, are facing the beautiful St Roch Church, and rooms on the North side are facing t...

We came to stay for two nights after getting a deal on hotwire.

First impressions of the hotel were nice- lobby was bright and modern and the receptionist was pleasant and welcoming. Parking (valet) was 21 per night which is OK.

Upon getting to our floor (top) we exited the elevator to the sound of a loud bass beat coming from the suite(or party room? No idea) and looked at each other in confusion. Little did we know but this would define the rest of the night as the party got rowdy, with yelling, women squealing in the halls, and an occasional crash of broken dishes/glassware. Seriously.

On top of this our room turned out to be a tiny add-on that is connected to a suite and meant for children- the 'bed' was a very flat, stiff fold out sofa bed and the pillows were child-size. Both my partner and I woke up throughout the night from a combination of discomfort and noise and had aches in our backs and neck in the morning.

The only saving grace to this was decent room service which was very quick with bringing up dinner(Protip: avoid the mac and cheese and the mini burgers, not worth what you pay. Go for the salad and normal burger) and the very pleasant view out the ceiling to floor window out over a gorgeous cathedral.

Final note- the whole feel of the hotel is just off: valet parking and excellent lobby.. but poor quality building materials and craftsmanship (bathroom door didn't close due to bad mounting), a gorgeous view.. and a fold out bed. It's an unsuccessful blend. Avoid.

We spent two nights at this hotel in late August and were not disappointed with the accommodations. Although the hotel is in the centre of the city it is a bit of a walk to get to many of the points of interest.

The staff, from the parking attendants to the cleaning personnel, were most helpful and polite. They provided tourist information and made restaurant reservations for us at the last moment.

The decor of the hotel tends to be a little dark in the hallways and the bathrooms...black paint. The room itself was all white and very comfortable.

The area around the hotel can seem a little seedy but in no way intimidating. We found some very good local restaurants that were reasonably priced and with good cuisine.

Wifi was free.

Would recommend this hotel for those who are willing to walk to various tourist attractions.

Room Tip: For some reason we had booked accessible rooms which had lots of hand holds, but the bathtub would s...
