“Old world charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed for 4 nights (Nov 24-28) and had a wonderful time. The room was clean and well presented. We loved the exposed brick wall and fireplace. There was a mini fridge located in the bottom of the wardrobe which was an unexpected surprise because we weren't expecting to have one and brought an electric cooler as a just in case.

The front desk staff were helpful and courteous as was the young woman who looked after the breakfasts.

There was plenty on offer to eat - bacon, sausages, beans, eggs, crepes, hash browns along with yogurts, cereal, cheese, bagels and bread.

Will definitely stay in this hotel again.

We spent two nights at this nice hotel located a 5mins walk from old Quebec. There are a number of nice restaurants nearby, and the provincial parliament, citadel, and plaines d'abraham are very close. The staff were very quick to respond to the couple of requests we had, and that was appreciated. We were allowed to leave our car in the parking lot until 2hours past check out which gave us time to enjoy our last day in the city. There is an ok buffet breakfast included which we took advantage of on the first morning. We opted to have coffee and fresh croissant in old town the second morning.

Be aware that there is a club right across from the hotel. This isn't a big deal if you keep your windows closed however. The rooms could also do with a mini fridge to keep drinks cold too (there is a small convenience store two doors down that sells beer and wine).

I also called the hotel when I got home and realized a promotional rebate hadn't been applied to my bill. I didn't get the full amount refunded I'd have hopped for, but I did get something and was treated fairly.

I would recommend this location to friends and family, and would stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights. Great location just 5 mins to old Quebec. Staff was friendly and the place was charming. Only complaint was there was no fridge in the room for our drinks. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.

We stayed here Oct 2 to Oct 4. Generally the staff was not very friendly except for one bell boy who helped us the first night.

The hotel is cute and in a nice location but the party scene late at night can be disruptive and scary because it goes well into the morning like 4am. If you get a room facing the street, make sure to close your double windows completely otherwise the noise will be very loud or the room can get cold.

Lastly, no elevator and lots of narrow, uneven steps so be prepared for that if you're not on the first floor. The breakfast is basic - nothing special, but it's included so that's nice. Free wifi is a win too!

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor have only one bed. Choose room in back of hotel if you are a light sleeper. Bew...

My husband and I stayed here one night and it was pretty standard. The location was good, everything else ... Just OK. Upon check-in we went off to find our room, hotel staff did not direct us in the right area which was a real pain especially since there aren't any elevators. After searching for 10 mins, I was told to read the number on the key by the front desk... Brilliant thought ! Then we were told to look at the numbers on the board to guide us in the right direction ... Not on the board ! After some confusion it was in fact another guest who ended up telling us where our room was (the rooms in the back part of the hotel are not indicated on the boards). We were charged for breakfast but it was included, said they would remove it. Upon check out, it was still there. Would not return as I believe there are better places to stay on a budget.

My wife and I and another couple stayed at the Le Grand-Allee for several nights. Even though the other couples room was on the first floor right by the cafe outside and the front desk it was not noisy. The rooms were nice but not outstanding however the location is great. It is only a short walk to old town and there are a lot of restaurants within one block on the same street. The only downside is the parking. If you are in a hurry for your car make sure you let the front desk know early because where they park the cars is sometimes block by delivery trucks in the morning. There is a public parking garage within a block that might be more convenient.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room other than the first floor.

The staff is very friendly, helpful, polite and professional. They are concerned about making your stay nice. Our room was clean, if a bit small. Sound proofing wasn't the best, the building is old. The price was on the high side considering what you get, but we were there on the labor day weekend. Location is very good if you wish to be by the most vibrant area of the city. There are many bars and restaurant on that street and it is a short walk from the nice parts of the old city.
