“OK but perhaps better for tour groups”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We travel independently and found this hotel -despite good reviews a bit too full of large tour groups - who were noisy in the public areas. The staff were very helpful and the room was quite pleasant and large. However the air con was rather noisy and there seemed to be always a hum in the room.

I would not recommend the breakfasts partly because of the fact that everything seemed to be geared to the tours. However the location is perfect for the old town. If you arrive by train and have luggage it is a very short taxi ride BUT it is all uphill. I might stay there again but might look for somewhere with a bit more class. See my review of the Hotel Place d'Armes in MOntreal which was definitely a superior hotel. I would have liked something more like that.

Right in the heart of old Quebec, with immediate access to the old city. It is old, but beautifully restored, with all the amenities a business traveler needs. An excellent restaurant, but immediate access to all the other fine restaurants and pubs nearby.

We recently stayed there as a family and had a relatively comfortable stay. We reached a little before the check-in time and they were gracious enough to give us a room and the valet helped us carry the luggage up the 23 stairs that lead to the reception area. The room though spacious was a long rectangle with this strange pillar right next to one of the beds, room no. 200. there are only 2 rooms in this area, and while all amenities have been taken care it is not a room for people who like to sleep in late as the traffic noise can wake you up anytime after 5:30am. Luckily for us we were okay with it and my son can sleep though a storm so we did not ask for a room change.
The mattresses however on one bed were really bad, they sag and caused my husband to start a back pain by the second day. since we had only one night left we put out blankets on the floor and he slept there. They do need to look into this.
the breakfast is very generous and priced at 16dollars per person, but you do have a Tim Hortons and McDonalds right door for more options. the hotel restaurant Chef Boulay is splendid, great food not too expensive but certainly NOT FOR KIDS.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is the location. It is so close to everything of interest in Old Quebec that you can walk everywhere. This was the best thing for us and we did not need to rush anywhere and could take breaks during the day and start out again.
There are plenty of eating joints around and you can explore a new cuisine every night, though please know that this part of town is not exactly budget friendly.
It was a great break, I tried the Spa which was brilliant and my son loved the pool.

Room Tip: Avoid room nos. 200 and 100. Having a room on the front has no view advantage

A fabulous location in Qubec City. Stayed during the May long weekend with family. Fantastic facility with excellent customer care. The best atracions in the city is just within walking distance.
We were also surprised by the quality of food at the hotel restaurant. The friendly staff is probably the highlight of this hotel. Overall it was a great stay.

No for valet service. Take a great deal of time waiting. Pools close early and open late, not ideal but location is really very good as well as the price, excellent. People and staff are friendly. had the pools opened late And opened early, it would have been.a very ideal stay. No access to your car the time that you needed it too was very stressful. waiting time was very poor. The valet person was very apologetic though but still wasted our precious time especially if you are there only for one night. location is very ideal no doubt about it. Will go back again next time but would prefer to have access to our cars ourselves than asking the valet person.

Room Tip: parking was valet and it took quite a bit of our time just waiting. We ended up just going to the l...

I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon. The front desk personnel were a bit too proper for my taste. It felt like I was checking in at the Queen's palace. If you need information, look for Bernard or Guillaume. Both of them have been very accommodating and helpful when it comes to information about places to dine and visit.

The bedroom was very suitable for resting. If you're a fan of goose down pillows you'll find them in this hotel. They're so huggable! The room was nicely furnished and very clean. The bathroom was well lit and had modern fixtures, and very clean also. Housekeeping did a good job with keeping the room clean and tidy everyday.

If you travel with big bags, a porter is always ready to help you to carry them upstairs, which is the only proper way into the hotel. Unless you'd like to pass through the hotel's street-level Boulay restaurant, through a group of people, while they feast on their meal. Just be ready to be welcomed by a set of stairs once you get into the front door of the hotel.

The hotel is situated a few yards away from Rue Saint Jean where you'll find many good restaurants and places for shopping.

Check-out time is 12noon. I was able to leave a bag at the hotel for storage after checking out since my flight was scheduled to leave a few hours after. This gave me more time to walk around the city and take some more photos.

If you need a cab, the front desk would be more than happy to call for one.
I would stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room that is away from the elevators and construction, if you'd like it to be m...

The hotel is quite modern. Parking is 22$ a day, and most everything you would want to see in Quebec city is within walking distance if you don't mind walking a bit. There is a pool downstairs, which is perfect for relaxation, but not fitness swimming as it is shallow. The staff are very friendly and seem like they genuinely want you to have a great stay. They serve pretty good breakfast for 16$ a person, and they serve lunch and dinner but my wife and I went out in town instead. The rooms are cozy and the bed and pillows were excellent. If you are looking for a very cultural looking hotel that really captures Quebec history and culture, then this really isn't the one for you. If you are ok with staying at a comfy and accommodating hotel that is in the center of everything than i'm sure you'll be more than happy with your stay.
