“Very comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Very nice hotel. Well designed. The bed is extra comfortable, the bathroom is quite beautiful. One negative thing: you need to buy the coffee (2$) at the reception for use in your room. Location is average on Boulevard Laurier.

We visited Quebec city in summer of 2012 and stayed at ALT Hotel for 3 nights. We picked this hotel based on reviews and excellent room rates. The Concept Room was on the small side but it was more than enough. Everything in the room looked brand new. The room decor and colors gave off a vibrant vibe as opposed to homey cozy feel. The room reminded us of Barney Stinson's apartment where everything looks sharp and cool but you would not want to stay there for long. The bottom line ALT Hotel is a great place.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

I have stayed in this hotel several times in the past 5 years, and while it is still a decent value and the location is good, they cut a lot of corners.
The rooms have a contemporary feel, and I find that the beds are very comfortable. Those are the best points of hotel. As for the bad, it appears that they have made a lot of cost cutting decisions that are not good. For example, they do not offer individual soaps and shampoos for the shower, instead the have a serious of pumps that you have to pump it out of. This is really gross. Furthermore, on my last stay, it appeared that they put restrictions on the thermostat, and I could not adjust the heat.I was freezing. In addition, there is no fitness facilities and parking is brutal.

The Alt in QC is decent value, as it is usually pretty affordable. A few years ago, this was a fantastic hotel, but over time, they have let it slide with some questionable cost cutting decisions. First time guests will likely find it OK.

Dear Mr Ray,

I can assure you it is not our intention to cut any corner.
I am very sorry you feel so.

I would like to discuss the bad points you mentioned. The Fruits et Passion soap and lotion dispensers are actually quite an improvement regarding the environment. We decided to ban individual small bottles and individual soaps to reduce our ecological footprint. These are actually not cheaper for us to buy...
Furthermore, we did not put any restriction regarding in-room thermostats. Guests are free to adjust heat and A/C to their needs. We are also always happy to help when guests call us at the front desk to report an issue with any equipment.
Lastly, when the hotel is fully booked, the restaurant busy and our meeting rooms occupied, our outdoor parking may be full, indeed, but we do have free valet parking as well as an underground lot free of charge.
I sincerely hope you will visit us again.
Kind regards,
Marie-Andrée

modern, convenient, clean and quiet. Right next to Place Laurier, a large retail complex. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance or you can take a bus(1 min walk to bus stop) or drive to the older part of the city where you can find the charm and character of a 400 year old city. One of a kind in this part of the world.

Room was warm in the night, air conditioning shuts off by itself.

We like this hotel.

Room Tip: Upper floors have great views.

This was my first visit to Quebec. Rooms were very clean and modern. Staff was polite and very helpful. I did not get a chance to shop but within the hotel they have small shops for the busy traveler. Looking in the windows I was impressed by the selection, again the shops were modern and clean. If I ever get a chance to take a vacation I will certainly visit for a R&R trip!

Very clean hotel in the Ste-Foy burrough of Québec City. Practical room set-up for business travellers. Only downside is location. If you're doing business in Ste-Foy or near the bridges, the location is perfect. But if work brings you to the historic district or the National Assembly, the ALT Québec is a bit out of the way.
