“Warm and Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013 via mobile

On a recent visit to beautiful Quebec we were treated to a short stay at Le Bonne Entente. Check in was friendly, quick and thoughtful, including setting our wake up call and arrangements for our next day transportation to the airport. Our room was cozy and beautifully decorated. We would like to especially thank our concierge Marc who very dearly arranged a last minute laundry service so that my husband and I were able to travel next day in fresh clothing. We dined in the MC Lounge and the food was wonderful. We will assuredly make Le Bonne Entente our home when we return! Well done to each and every staff member! You made our last day in Quebec very special! Merci encore!

I might be a little biased but I love to stay at Le Château Bon Entente when I'm in Quebec city. I've been staying there for the last 15 years and I have never been disapointed. Check-in is always efficient. They even serve you sparkling wine if you reserve in Urbania. Room are spacious, clean, quiet and decor is very contemporary. Food is always great whatever the meal you are looking for: Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Ambiance at the dining room is very cozy for dinner. The new chef has been up so far as good as the former, Mrs Lepage.
I always ask for a garden view room and with the trees and the pool, I feel like I would be in a country resort.
If you can afford, do not hesitate and reserve. You will not be disaoointed.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms: Distinctive section # 108, 208 Urbania R3-4 or 3-10

This hotel about 20 minutes to downtown Quebec shows well online, and has some very nice features.

My mistake was considering this as a family hotel. There are family-centric activities at the hotel, including a kids center if you have small children, but I felt it's more suited to couples.

The hotel is an upscale motor lodge in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There's a decent-sized parking lot in the back and all around the building, and then you walk to your room from there.

Rooms: Our room was way too small for four adult-sized people (two adults, two teens). With a cot, there was literally no room for our bags or to walk. We had lots of rolling across beds to get to the bathroom and front door. The room itself is attractive enough and, again, as a couple, I might have enjoyed it. It did have a large, nice bathroom with a cool feature -- the bathroom TV is embedded into the bathroom mirror so you watch the news while showering or bathing. Beds were comfortable, pillows way too squishy.

Grounds: Looks prettier in pictures. There is a pond and walking paths by the front entrance. That's about it. Nice for a small wedding even. The rest of the grounds are the buildings and the parking lot.

Amenities: Nice pool and attractive spa in back. Both are heated. The spa is long and serpentine, more like a small pool than a hot tub. The pool is out the back door of the hotel. The spa takes a longer walk through the halls of hotel to reach.

Dining: We didn't eat here. A couple of restaurants, both expensive. It looks like a nice place for couples to have romantic dinner, not so much if you are trying to feed two teens.

Access: Very easy, maybe a mile off the highway into Quebec.

Staff: Excellent, friendly and helpful, though the front desk usually had long lines and a decent wait if you had a question.

If you are a couple looking for a quiet hotel outside of the city (though why wouldn't you want to stay in Quebec?) check this out. For families, I say look elsewhere.

A good value, but far from the historic centre. Not really 5 stars as advertised, but service is well-intentioned and friendly. If romance is what you’re after, a downtown boutique hotel might be a better choice.

ROOM:
For the cheapest rate (Business category), we got a very large, clean, and comfortable room. The décor was incredibly dated, but we heard most of the other rooms had been renovated so maybe changes are on their way. The bed was large, comfortable, and clean. There was extra sleeping space on the sofa-bed in the living area. The TV was very old and small. The bathroom was a decent size and clean with a basic tub/shower combo. The room was extremely quiet throughout our stay, but it wouldn’t have been had we needed the stand-alone A/C unit (no central air). That thing was loud! No view to speak of from this room.

LOCATION: In the suburb of Sainte-Foy. A city bus stops right in front. A taxi to Old Quebec would cost about $35 CAD. They do offer a shuttle service to downtown, but it only works in early and late afternoon. It’s not a continuous all-day service. The hotel doesn’t look like much when you drive up, nor do the surroundings, but the grounds in the back are nice and make you forget you’re in the ‘burbs. In addition to the pool, there are funky hammocks and lounge chairs to relax in.

CHECK-IN/OUT:
Always friendly, but a few issues occurred. One morning I received a voicemail saying I hadn’t shown up for my first night so they had to charge me for it. But I was only due to arrive 4 days later! This was resolved with a confused phone call: they had me under the wrong surname despite the fact that I typed it out myself on the Web form! Also, on my actual arrival date, I received an email 1 hour before leaving home which stated “So sorry you had to cancel your booking. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you some other time!” but I hadn’t cancelled our room! Yet another phone call during which they explained that they had double-booked me so they cancelled one of the reservations and this automatic email was sent out. I felt they should’ve immediately sent me an email confirming I still had a reservation… Finally, when we did arrive, the employee at the front desk was not aware of the specifics of the Internet offer I had booked, i.e. that we had prepaid for breakfast for both mornings and were entitled to a round of free drinks at the bar.

PARKING:
Outside, in the hotel lot. The rate is about $10-15 CAD per day without valet service.

BREAKFAST:
Not included. Reasonable rate (under $20 CAD). Choice of buffet or warm à la carte dishes, or both for an extra fee.

POOL/FITNESS:
Outdoor pool. Water temperature was just right. This is a small recreational pool, not a lap pool. Some shade thanks to parasols. Located in the back of the hotel, in the gardens next to the lunch café. Waiters take drink orders. Large hot tub right next to it.

All in all, a good quality-price ratio, but far from everything. You’re ok if you have a car, but it’s about a 15-20 min. drive to downtown and you have to contend with parking once you get there…

Room Tip: From what I hear it might be worth spending more to stay in the Urbania section.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel - spacious rooms, beautiful property, away from the noise and crowds of downtown. For 2 of our 3 nights we had a regular king-bed room, but for our 3rd night we were upgraded to a suite. This latter option is definitely the way to go, and it was perfect for what turned out to be a rainy, blustery day not well suited to sight-seeing. There are downsides to staying in the burbs, so to speak, but, with the hotel shuttle, very doable. In fact, with all the road construction on the freeways leading into and out of the city, the shuttle was the way to go.

We just had our first wedding anniversary at the bonne entente, with the package " la vie de château". It's been great' such a nice service fom staff! We have been welcome with bubles, chocolate truffes and a hand written card from the hotel! A special thanks to mr. lacroix for his amazing service at the mc lounge. We recommend it at 100%

Room Tip: Urbania section is amazing!

I reserved for a three nights stand with my mother at the end of summer 2013. We were surprised (and so lucky!) to learn that we were upgraded in the Urbania section... Awesome place, great food and the staff is very professional. You must discover the Living Rouge... This place made us feel like if we were in a five star all included trip!
We had a great time. All the specials attentions from the staff made out trip an extraordinary one.
We will return for sure. Thanks to the team of the Château Bonne Entente! :)
