“culture and art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

make sure you visit the shop where the local artist is blowing glass ornaments...it is well worth asking the owner the time he is working...this shop is on the street across from the Chasse Galerie...another great shop was the carving shop where you can chat with a local artist about his work

“Very easy place to stay and still get to Old Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

This area is "newer" than inside the waled city obviously but it is so easy to get around the area and there is much to see and many amazing places to eat in the area. The funicular is an easy walk to take you up to the Old Town area. But there is a lot of shopping and dining to be down here as well. It's also a tad less expensive for hotels since it's "newly" gentrified. I say a tad!

“So quaint and festive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

we were in Quebec city in December and loved the lower town. We were there on a very cold and snowy weekend and it was so picturesque down there, it was unbelievable. everything was decorated so festive for the holidays and with the snow falling around us it looked like we were in the pages of a book. Since there was no one out in the streets as well we were able to take so many lovely photos of the Basse-Ville. Although it is freezing cold in Dec, I would recommend going at this time as the streets are so beautiful and it really puts you in the holiday spirit!

“Nice village with beautiful views”

Great shopping, restaurants and museums! Take the Funicular or walk. Funicular is faster and requires less energy.

“Architectural attractive and Eclectic area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Very attractive, reconstructed area with great shops and restaurants. During holidays they have numerous singers and choirs that perform for the public in the square. Views of the River, fortifications and Hotel Frontenac from below.
