“Fabulous Arcitecture with cute shops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2011

The architecture is lovely, the area clean, lots of pricey shops - some worth your time. The stairs are healthy and not too difficult - think of them as a good excuse to get an ice-cream.
Definitely worth a look see.

“The best part of Old Quebec”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

In our view this is the best part of Old Quebec so do not miss it. There is a very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of quaint shops, restaurants, cafes and bars to suit most tastes and budgets. We spent 2-3 hours wandering around and could easily have spent more time here. highly recommend.

“very nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2010

Go down through the stairs, it´s easier than most people says, but to go up, do it through the funicular, it´s worth for the view!
When down there, take a walk throught the Petit Champlain region, but also go to the left side, you will find lots of antiques shops and less touristic restaurants. GReat place to take a walk in the afternoon!

“Do not miss this part of Quebec City!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2010

I have been to Quebec City at least twenty times over the past twenty five years. This section of the city gets the 'most improved' award, in my opinion. It always had the historical significance of the first inhabited part of Quebec (with the first settlement in North America having been established in the Lower Town) and the 'Petit Champlain' has been well known and well loved for a long time. The additions and renovations over the years have only made the part of Quebec City more amazing: the Musee de la Civilisation, the Place Royale Interpretive Centre, the many boutique hotels and auberges and the selection of restaurants. Take the ferry to Lévis and try the new (and currently free) Ecobus, an electric bus that takes up to 21 passengers from the ferry terminal to the Upper Town and outside of the gates to Place Youville, past the Legislature building and parts beyond and then back again with many stops throughout its circuit. The history of Quebec starts in Lower Town and so should every visit to Quebec City.

“A Must Visit Area of Quebec”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2008

We just returned from a visit to Vieux Quebec and loved Lower Town. It is charming and colorful with lots of shops and cafes. Everywhere there are flowers and strung overhead are brightly colored sprinkling cans that are lit up. Must Sees are Englise Notre-Dame-des-Victories which is the oldest church in Quebec and stands on the site of Champlain's first residence; Place Royale with the statue of Louis XIV in the square and the fantastic mural; Maison Chevalier, an old stone house which is open to the public and Rue du Petit-Champlain, the main shopping street.
