“Old port market is worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Stop by this real market for a pleasant surprise of local fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries and blueberries were all in season on our visit). You can buy by the cup or larger baskets, and also see fresh veggies, local breads, pies and macaroons, candy, cider, wine and many other specialty meats and cheeses. Come hungry and make a picnic lunch along the port walks.

“Well worth it for the Open Market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

There are definitely cities with more beautiful ports, but the old port has some unique sites. The Open Market is a trip in itself, with tons of fresh produce, dairy, wines, chocolates, flowers, syrup, and even a cafeteria. I didn't feel like a tourist here, altho some might disagree. I just enjoyed the friendly chattiness of the vendors as they explained their products and where they were from. The silos provide the screen for an interesting animation/show at about 10 pm every night; be sure to stand/sit where you can hear the accompanying music/sound. The Marie Clarisse is a huge sailing ship that is docked at the Old Port, also, with tours on varying days of the week. Make sure to check the schedule before traveling there just to see the ship; we missed the tours twice before we figured out the schedule. Also, the free Cirque du Soleil show at the Agora at 9:15pm 6 days/week near the Old Port is outstanding! Wear comfortable shoes and be aware of the numerous bike paths as bikes have the right of way (over pedestrians) in Quebec City.

“The Marche here is very good for local produce.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

This is nice place to see and buy some local produce and enjoy a quick snack beside the Old Port area and Marina. Parking is free for the first 60 minutes, if you buy or eat something and keep your receipt for presentation at the parking exit kiosk.

“Interesting walk along the water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

The two outstanding features of the old port, for me ,were the Market ( open every day ) with fresh produce and Canadian products,i.e., maple syrup, cheese, and some fruit wines ( tomato and blueberry !!) ; and the Bunge silos which become the Image Mill at 10:15 every night.
The homage to Norman McClaren ( Famous animator) was interesting though a little long. Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket. even the warmest day will be chilly down by the water at 10PM!
