“Great Historic Hotel with Friendly Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I stayed at this hotel one weekend in December and it was great. All the employees were fluent in English and were very helpful. Concierge recommended great restaurants and provided easy instructions on how to get to Montmorency Falls by bus. There was live jazz music each night, with an $8 cover charge.

The hotel is old but nicely kept. Our room was small but cozy with a view of the Christmas Market across the street. The hotel is centrally located.

It is 4:05am and I am writing my first ever hotel review because this needs to be said. I will not go on about aesthetics or location because all of that is subjective. Regrading price, you know what you getting into up front. But what was INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING was the mechanical system in our room. The supply for the HVAC system is fed through a flex duct that comes straight out of the wall with no diffuser. It was SO STRONG upon discharge that was like a focused beam of air blowing on my face/head ALL NIGHT LONG. I would have called room service or asked for the room to be changed but after walking throughout the city all day and coming back to the room my kids crashed and fell asleep. What could I do, wake them up at 11pm and tell them we are moving to another room? TO THE MANAGEMENT, there is a reason why mechanical engineers put fresh air supplies in the ceiling. There is another reason why diffusers are installed. Go into room 427, lay on the far bed and wait for the air to come on. The forced hot air dried my nasal passages, mouth and face. When I switched to cold I was FREEZING. Thanks for a terrible night of almost no sleep after walking in the city all day.

My Wife and I stayed here for 5 days, the hotel and has that old world charm that we like. It is in walking distance to almost everything. We had a King bed room which was great for us. If you are looking for a nice hotel, with some charm , but not the cost ..this is the place to stay.

Excellent check in service. Check in was a breeze and the clerk was very helpful and courteous. Only an overnight stay buy found the hotel very clean with a friendly staff. The bathroom was small but not a issue. Good location. Would stay here again.

We have stayed in Hotel Clarendon 2 times and will plan to return again if we get a chance!
The hotel has a lot of old world character and history. It is a great location from which to explore all parts of the historical area. The breakfast buffet plan is very delicious and filling. The staff is helpful.

Room Tip: Request a room on the perimeter rather than the courtyard for better views.

We were very happy that we selected the Hotel Clarendon for a three night stay. As many others have stated, the location is great.....in the heart of Old Quebec. Because the hotel is the oldest in the city, it exudes charm and refinement. Although our room was in the least expensive category, we were very comfortable and had a nice view of the city hall and other city buildings. Our room was fairly small, but because of the incredibly high ceiling it didn't feel that small. The Wi-Fi worked well whenever we used it, and in addition, there was a computer in the lobby for guests to use. The one downside of the hotel, and actually in most of the businesses we saw in Quebec City, was the accessibility issue. In order to get into the hotel there are a number of steps. Once inside the hotel there are two elevators, so getting to the room is not a problem. The staff that we dealt with were professional and helpful. We would definitely stay at the Clarendon again.

Room Tip: If a lot of space is important to you, stay in one of the more expensive rooms.
