“Pleasant, convenient, affordable Old Quebec option”

My girlfriend and I and her two young adult daughters spend three days between Xmas and New Year's at the Clarendon, and we were very pleased with the choice. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable (the high ceilings in this old building were a pleasure), the location of the hotel was ideal for walking just about anywhere in the surrounding Vieux Quebec, and the bi-lingual staff were professional and courteous.

Other than a delicious family-styled breakfast offering, don't count on eating there, though (which is not a problem considering the wealth of dining options in town). We had briefly considered staying at the internationally known and sumptuous Frontenac Hotel just three blocks away, but took the chance on the lesser offerings of the Clarendon because it appeared charming enough from the web site, was less than half the cost, and we needed two rooms. Good decision.

I would recommend the Clarendon without any hesitation for visitors seeking a pleasant, comfortable and convenient stay, if less-than luxurious, at a reasonable cost.

“Wonderful Christmas Stay”

Arrived at hotel around noon'ish on December 23rd and was given early check in to the room. Hotel seemed to be quiet over the Christmas period which was nice and was decorated beautifully. Stayed for 3 nights until Boxing Day and dinner in hotel restaurant flled with reservations quicky! Booked through a travel agency and was a little worried we would end up with a double bed based on other reviews and information given on the internet over room categories. Ended up getting a beatiful room on the fifth floor (#521) overlooking Old Quebec with a Queen Bed and period furnishings.
The buffet breakfast for $9.95 was absolutley worth it and $14.00/day valet parking was a great find in Old Quebec.
Loved this hotel and would recommend to everyone. Water in the vending machines would be useful. Was forced to take a latenight walk around the corner to a nearby convenience store as no bottled water available in hotel and concierge did not seem to be any help in assisting to locate (could have been communication issues?!). Several vending machines on various floors just dispensing pop and juice. May want to stock up when your out for bottled water if it bothers you for drinking! Overall, wonderful Christmas stay and would return!!

“Great Stay at the Clarendon”

We just returned from 2 nights at the Clarendon, getting a deal for $445 Cdn which included dinner at their excellent restaurant, 2 mornings buffet breakfast and a $25 gift certificate which could be used at certain shops and restaurants, mainly on Rue de Petit Champlain. Staff was excellent, location perfect and underground parking garage steps away ($14 per day) with an elevator directly up to the hotel. Room was small, but comfortable and clean , included a coffee maker and you could get breakfast in bed if you preferred.
We had a fantastic table d'hote meal at their restaurant - a ground stag in homemade ravioli topped with mushroom sauce, salad, and filet mignon with foie gras toast and chicken with oyster (? ) mushroom sauce ,grilled vegetables. When one waiter mistakenly brought me the wrong dessert; seeing that they were busy, I went ahead and started on it and told them not to worry about it . It was tiramisu mousee and wonderful. Just as I was half-way through, he brought me my triple-chocolate mousse cake anyway at no-charge.The preparation and flavors of each course was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was good also. Altho' I tried to practice my very basic French before we left, I didn't need to use it because everyone we talked to spoke English as soon as they heard my accent. All in all, we would reccommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.

“Very nice hotel”

I just stayed at the Hotel Clarendon for two nights and really enjoyed my stay. The lobby was attractive and the room was very clean. I was surprised at how large the bathroom was also. I was traveling with 3 other adults, and even though we just had a regular room w/2 doubles, it seemed spacious.

The location is great - so close to everything. The fitness room is SMALL and the weight machine was out of order, but at least we didn't have to wait for the cardio machines. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant one morning. They have a very nice buffet with a wide selection, including lots of fresh fruit.

Over all, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Brilliant location in the old city. Staff very pleasant. Room was small but adequate although the decor was rather drab. The television unit was so large that it blocked half the window making the room very dark and the reading lights were not really bright enough. It was very quiet as we overlooked an inner courtyard. We booked at the last moment so perhaps got one of the less desirable rooms. Had a wonderful meal in Cafe Beni in the Rue St Anne.
