“Like staying in a castle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This hotel is always a wonderful place to stay, summer or winter. With plenty of skiing and outdoor options close by, it is an ideal home base for day trips to the mountains. The location near the older part of the city provides outstanding restaurants and shopping, as well as historic buildings and museums.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, but rooms near elevators tend to be noisy with people having conversations...

They have done renovations. Some of the renovated rooms don't have a bathtub anymore, only a shower, make sure to ask if it is important for you. Usually the 2 double bedrooms are family rooms and have a bath. The renovated rooms are very nice , but very modern, unfortunately, only the mouldings on the ceiling remind you, that you are in a historic location..Also they served the breakfast in the Champlain dining room but it was a much smaller buffet, with extra $ for omelettes. They are thinking of going back to the original dining room on the terrace level. They have removed most of the boutiques on the terrace, but added some window displays of historic artifacts with Parks Canada partnership. The lobby is beautiful but very modern as well, with a strange blue paint

Room Tip: ask if bath in the room or only shower

Stayed 2 nights on business during March 2015. Was lucky to get one of the "deluxe" rooms which are nicely renovated, even though my room had no view worthy to talk about. Room was nicely equipped with modern bathroom, albeit of the non-spacey kind, comfy bed and bedding (needed at outside temps close to 0) and a Keurig coffee maker (good for early morning work bedside). Had trouble to connect to the wireless internet, so that was a downer. Hotel has a very scenic bar overlooking the river, beautiful views! Staff is super-friendly and helpful. All in all a very good experience. Would definitely stay there again next time I have to come to QC.

My opinion of Le Chateau Frontenac would have been completely positive had I had a renovated room. My room was enormous (thumbs up), but my bathroom was miniscule. I didn't like the tired outdated look of my room. I saw other rooms near mine that were beautiful and updated. The room rate was very affordable in March, but I would not have paid more, considering my personal stay. My heater required manual attention to heat the room, the cover was broken, etc. My coffee cups had someone else's lipstick residue and coffee stains inside. Hated my bathroom for its puny size and shabby shape -- very run down. Such a disappointment. I have had wonderful stays at other properties. The newly renovated restaurants and public spaces are quite chic and beautiful. My review is very mixed, because the potential was there to make my stay better. However, I felt cheated from a good experience. The room was also quite noisy. The draft from the windows caused the roller shade bead chain to rhythmically clang. So glad I brought earplugs.

I will likely be back to Quebec City for another business trip. I would give Le Chateau Frontenac another try if I were able to stay in a newly renovated and refreshed space. Sorry, Fairmont -- you blew it! Wish it hadn't been so!

A magical birthday weekend is the only way to describe our 2 day experience. From the moment of arrival we experienced impeccable service with incomparable graciousness! I cannot say enough of how well the Chateau Frontenac's HR department has served the Fairmont franchise. Each & every staff member from Doormen, Housekeeping, Concierge to Executive Chef Stephane Modat could not have made our stay more memorable. We upgraded to the Fairmont Gold Expereince which was wonderful I highly recommend it. On the 14th floor a young waiter Francois was exceptional in everything he did. His sincere attitude & pride was evident throughout our stay. The Fairmont tradition is in excellent hands with his calibre of attention to detail which is why their HR department deserves applause. It was a wonderful time our only regret was having to leave to return home. Thank you everyone at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac !!!

Green Features: They provide the rooms with several disposal means.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the sevice was outstanding. The bartenders were very creative and willing to please. The food and service in the restaurant was superb and my two spa experiences were fantastic. The accommodations were first class. The Fairmont helped make our visit to Quebec City an unforgettable experience.
Would highly recommend the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac!!!!

Room Tip: Gorgeous views and convenient to restaurants, shopping and historical sites. A perfect location.

Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Fairmont le Chateau Frontenac. It is the hotel to stay at in Quebec City, a beautiful imposing building, close to everything in the old town. Our kids loved the pool.
