“Is there anywhere else to stay when seeing Quebec City?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The magnificence of the actual historic building, coupled with its imposing situation on a precipice at the edge of the St. Lawrence River, right in the heart of old Quebec, would be enough to attract many visitors. However, once inside, the service from check in to cleaning staff, clinched the deal. This is a grand old hotel, so if you are needing large bathrooms and modern lobbies, this isn't your spot. If you want old world ambience and great service, this is the place. Our room overlooking the river was very comfortable. We ate at Sam's for 2 nights and had reasonable service and the food was good. You can't beat the location of this hotel for seeing Quebec City: all the major attractions are within walking distance, and the caleches are right outside the door! We would definitely stay here again. For a real experience, try the Fairmont Gold level: very attentive service, a magnificent expresso machine in your own lounge, and wonderful breakfast and hors d'oeuvres daily.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Fairmont. What made it so special was the staff. they were attentive, helpful and knew to anticipate our questions. when the assigned room did not have the bed size we booked, they quickly changed us to another, even better room. The concierge was well informed and followed up to find out if we enjoyed her recommendations. we were very impressed.

The Chateau Frontenac is a gorgeous old, iconic hotel. It has recently been renovated in a manner that really does make it a stunning place to stay, and the public spaces are so evocative of times past, with a wonderful attention to detail present in the renovations. The front desk staff were extremely helpful (and delightfully pleasant) and the concierge seemed able to read our minds when it came to recommending restaurants for dinner. They were both perfect. We spent three nights there and loved the ambience and the (small) but beautifully renovated room that we had. It was just a shame that housekeeping let us down a few times. First no replacement of used/finished toiletries in the bathroom on one day, secondly despite requesting a turn down service (which I was entitled to as a Fairmont Diamond member), it never materialized on one of our nights. And finally, a faulty light fixture that we reported was never fixed during our stay. But I am giving 4 stars on the assumption that we were just unlucky.

We stayed here in november during the off season. We founf a room for $199 which was an amazing deal. Beautiful historic property. We parked our car for 3 days and walked everywhere. The Restaurants in the hotel looked great but were a bit too expensive for our taste, but lots of other great restaurants nearby

We were accompanied by our good friends from Argentina and they were truly impressed by the ambience beginning from the lobby to the quality and cleanliness of the room. We were made very comfortable by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our Argentinian could not get over at the majestic lobby and surroundings. We, as Canadians, were also proud of the Chateau Frontenac

stayed for two nights in the 10th floor which was renovated. It was a vast improvement from their standard, dated "fairmont room". The room was clean, quiet and has a nice view of the river. Service and food quality in the hotel restaurants are very good.

It's fun to be able to stay in a place that also has such a historical, physical presence in the city. It's also nice when the actual property is very nice. The rooms are basic, but nice, clean and comfortable. The hotel bar is great--you can sit by one of the windows and look out onto the St. Lawrence River. The lobby is also nice, but it would be nice if there was more seating. Another bonus is the Starbucks that is accessible from inside the hotel. The hotel also has a gym and pool, which I didn't use, but would certainly be a draw for planning a future visit.
