“We Will Patronize Le Patriarche Again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

On our visit, this restaurant was banging on all pistons. I'll start with the fact that it is situated in an old house that oozes romance and charm, so if you are looking for a WOW experience in a sharp modern setting, this is not it. It was however a total WOW experience for my wife and I who like the classic old style. Our waitress was top-notch and things we're not so busy that she could not engage us in a little conversation and help us with the menu along the way. Her advice was spot-on. All of our drink choices and all of our food choices did not disappoint, and while the portions were not huge, there were enough different preparations that we felt we had more than an ample tasting.
We went to the Number #1 ranked (by Trip Advisor) Le Initiale and while it was excellent, we'd put Le Patriarche at the front of the list, as whenever we think of Old Quebec City, we will fondly remember this establishment! From the Chateau Frontenac where we stayed, it was about a 10 minute walk which was just right.

“Good meal, so-so service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Let me start by saying first that my husband and I really liked the food, but were dissapointed by the service. Our dinner was three and a half hours long. We had reservations and were greeted when we got there, but the phone rang and the host/server answered the phone. When she was done she'd forgot she didn't seat us and greeted us again like she'd never seen us before. We didn't get anything to eat for the first half hour we were seated, not even bread. We ordered a bottle of wine, but it was kept on a sideboard and our glasses were refilled whenever the server seemed to think of it. There were long stretches between courses. We ordered a digestive to go with our dessert, but the dessert didn't come until we were finished drinking it. We liked the food, thought it was interesting and tasty, but the whole experience wasn't excellent and given what it cost, it doesn't leave me with especially happy memories.

“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

The chef has gotten lost in complex mechanics and artistry - and has forgotten taste. We had a tasteless consomme, a trio of rabbitt, a trio of foie gras, two trios of game meats and three cheeses - not a single thing was memorable (in a postive way) or great, two or three things were "ok", all the rest was disappointing/badly executed. The sorbet between the starters and the main course was right out of the freezer - there was no way to even push the spoon in with brute force. The only good thing was a friendly and competent sommelier. For those 400$s you can get two or three much better meals somewhere else.

“Fabulous restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Loved this restaurant!!! By way of background, my husband and I are New Yorkers who have been fortunate enough to enjoy most of NY's best restaurants and Le Patriarche definitely matched up with any of NY's best. The food was delicious, the service was professional and warm and the ambiance was delightful. It certainly is an expensive restaurant, but once you decide to spend the money, it is well worth it!

“A pricey splurge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Went here the night of our 25th anniversary. Menu features Canadian items and each selection is done in a trio, prepared three different ways. We had the wine pairings with each course, very good. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic and was located conveniently 2 blocks form our hotel. Our bill came to $250.00, but much of that was wine. If nothing else, come for a dessert and coffee after wandering the beautiful city streets.
