This little hotel is beautifully situauted right on a square with a view of the river and the Hotel Frontenac, whose evening light display is captivating. Very romantic! We had a two-bed room in the front. Spacious, spotless with very comfortable beds and pillows. The owners were very attentive and gave us great advice for our wanderings. Breakfast had the best croissants I had while in Quebec City.

My travelling partner and I truly enjoyed our stay at Chateau Fleur de Lys. I selected it after looking at numerous other places and know that I made the right choice. As a fan of Downton Abbey, I really wanted the view of the Chateau Frontenac, and was not disappointed as our room was on the third floor, and we also had a view of the St. Lawrence river. The location was absolutely phenomenal, and we were able to walk all of Old Quebec and to the bus stop to make trips to Ste. Foy and Montmorency Falls. The hospitality of the owners and proprietors who are from France was as charming as the old house. They were quite helpful and helped make our visit in Quebec City all the more enjoyable. As we hail from a warmer climate, we didn't realize that special outside winter windows that don't open or close are installed in the winter. We tried unsuccessfully to open the window and were afraid that we had broken it. This was stressful for us, but the owners took care of it right away and demonstrated concern without showing us any frustration so that we weren't made to feel at fault.

The building is quite old and is currently being renovated. One can see that this small boutique hotel is currently being nurtured and transformed. Visitors should be aware that there is no elevator, and that some rooms are not updated. This establishment deserves an overall high rating for the reasons stated above, along with the amazing rate that we were offered. Although this is a 2 star hotel, it is definitely on its way to 3 stars. I will definitely check-in on my next trip to Quebec City, and have already recommended it friends.

Room Tip: Room 31 boasted beautiful (but limited) corner views from the bedroom and bathroom.

The room is simple and cosy. The people at the front desk are very helpful, and offered us an upgraded room at a small on-cost. If staying out of season, I would recommend getting the breakfast, which comes with fresh plain and chocolate croissants, as well as other breakfast items.
This is a converted home I believe, so it makes the place feel more homely. Definitely didn't feel like a hotel.

We picked Chateau Fleur de Lys randomly from hotels.com.
So, really didn't know what to expect.

Let me tell you how very impressed we were with this hotel.
The receptionists were all so fabulous! Recommending activities, places
to eat, tips of the location. We loved our time speaking with them.
Secondly, the location is ideal. I didn't know how the hotel was located in relation to
the activities we wanted to do. So many times during our trip did we comment on we could not have picked a better place. It was truly ideal. Easy walking distance to everything!
We visited several cities in Canada over an 8 day trip. Quebec was the highlight of our trip, not just for the city, but also, for this hotel!

Room Tip: We stayed in the basement apartment. It slept 6 of us comfortably. We had 4 adults and 2 children...

Dear Tina,

First of all, many thanks for your stay with your family in our hotel. In French an old saying says "quelque fois le hasard fait bien les choses", we could translate this by "chance occasionally organises things rather well" and we are happy that it was the case for you when you have chosen our hotel.

Thank you very much also for your comment on Tripadvisor. This is a real treat to read so many compliments early on the morning.

Regarding our location, indeed, we can easily say that we are perfectly located in the Old Quebec, close to everything, with view on Château Frontenac and St-Laurence River, at walking distance to everything but far away from the crowd and noise of some very touristic streets of the center.

For your next stay, don't hesitate to book directly on our own website you will find there the largest choice of rooms and the best available rates and offers

Thank you once again and thank you also to pass our thanks and greetings to your all family.

Best regards,

Olivier & Romuald (owners)

We stayed at l'hotel Fleur de Lys twice in a two week span: on our way out east and again on the route back to Ontario. The rooms were cozy, but impeccably clean. The staff were friendly (even though our French is very limited) and helped us to find our way around Quebec City - for parking, dining, etc. The home-made pastries in the morning were a delicious treat too! Would definitely stay here again.

I've read some of the other reviews and I agree with most of them on the positives. We had an issue with the taxi and had to call the emergency number of the hotel at the front door as it was closed for being too early in the morning. They responded very quickly and helped me solve the situation. They are very knowledgeable for recommending places for things to do or places to eat and have fun. The view from the hotel is awesome. The location is excellent. The room we had was big and very comfortable. The croissants wow.

Room Tip: The room we got was on the first floor. Extremely nice, spacious and comfortable.

Dear Gioramo,

Many thanks for you stay in our Hôtel and for your nice review on TripAdvisor.

We are very pleased to read that your have appreciated your stay with us and that you have really enjoyed our breakfast with its unbeatable croissants.

For your information, regarding the problem you have had with your taxi, we filed a complaint with the taxi company and the taxi driver has appeared before the disciplinary board of the company.

We hope that we will have, in a near future, the pleasure to welcome you again at the Château Fleur de Lys,

Kind regards

We stayed at the Chateau Fleur-de-Lys in mid Feb. We had a fantastic time. We booked in on a Monday, with Tuesday night reserved at the Ice Hotel and then Wednesday and Thursday nights back at the Chateau. Our room was on the top floor (48 curving stairs, so ask for a ground floor room if stairs are an issue). Everything was clean and well-kept, with breakfast available everyday-with freshly baked croissants & other pastries. The owners were very helpful whenever we asked for directions or recommendations for places to eat or visit. They even let us leave our extra belongings in the room while we stayed at the Ice Hotel so we didn't have to drag everything all over the city. The hotel is in an awesome location, an easy walk to everything you want to see or do, and provides a comfortable and cozy home base while you explore. We will definitely return in the summer time with our boys. My husband only had one complaint, which prevented us from giving the hotel a full 5 stars...he found the bed hard and uncomfortable. However, he's a big guy(6'2, 250lbs), whether that was a factor or not, I don't know, but I slept great!;)

Dear Kelly,

Many thanks for taking the time to write this comment on Tripadvisor, but also for your stay in our hôtel.

We are delighted to read that you have appreciated our hotel and our way to welcome our guests. This is our signature, and it is always a pleasure to read that our guests have appreciated it.

Regarding the bed, I'm sorry to read that your husband didn't appreciated our mattress, in the other hand it is very difficult to satisfy everybody on this topic. Some people prefer soft to very soft mattress, some other people sleep well only on very hard mattresses. Now if we take into consideration the comments of the other Tripadvisor reviewers 4,5/5, including yours we can consider that we offer confortable beds which meet the expectations of a large majority of our guests.

We look forward to welcome you with your boys soon,

Kind regards,

Olivier & Romuald (owners)
