“Great location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

The hotel is conveniently located in old town and is within short walking distance to all the attractions in old town. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We're especially happy that we can keep our bikes in the garage and didn't have to carry them up the stairs. The breakfast room is nicely decorated and offers a nice view of Château Frontenac. The bathroom is a bit small but that's expected given that it's a 19th century Victorian building.

We took the route that Arnold took, thru Maine then up to Quebec. What a pleasant surprise, to be welcomed to an original place in history. The room was spotless. The staff was willing to meet any demands, including a room change. I am looking foward to our return.

This hotel is slowly and lovingly being renovated by the owners. Our room was large and cheerful, the staff was very helpful and the breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day. The location is excellent.

Room Tip: we has room 27. Although it didn't have a view, it had two comfortable beds that were spaced we...

I want to be really positive about this hotel as it has great potential. The location is superb, almost next to chateau. This is a lovely old property next to a park and 5 minutes from the heart of the old town.

But, like a lot of these hotels, the owners don't spend money. The hotel is beginning to look very tired, the carpets are threadbare and this is the first time in 20 years I have been in a hotel with no remote control for the TV. Not a major problem, but unusual.

And brown and beige is not a good colour, the rooms are in desperate need of a facelift. Don't let the negatives outweigh the positives, it is clean and tidy and the staff are great, eager to help with any problems.

The other thing to be aware of, is the lack of parking facilities. There is an underground car park, just 5 minutes away at $22 CAD per night.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comment.
As we explain, we bought the hotel there are 6 months ago and we know that we still have work.

Anyway, we can not allow to tell that we did not spend money for the past 6 months, more than $ 120,000 invested in works.
You may have noticed that we have changed the colors of the entrance with a beautiful fresco of the North Pole and Canada.
We changed the bedding, duvets, sheets, fire protection, installed wifi throughout the hotel and begin to renovate some rooms.

Renovate the rooms first seems more important than the carpet of stairs but we will change the carpets to common areas this winter so as not to disturb the guests.

We hope you will come back to see all these changes.

sincerely

This is the most amazing place to be in Quebec! The owners Oliver and Romauld went above and beyond in providing us the best stay! We stayed in the Governor’s Suite and everything about the place was superb! We had our own private washroom which includes toiletries, towels, hair dryer, and extra is provided no charge! The room is incredible in design and provides a classic and unique experience. The room had 2 queen size beds, air conditioning, 2 desk chairs, desk, wardrobe, dresser, a huge 46” HD TV as well as 2 comfy sitting chairs in a HUGE bay window with the most magnificent view of the Chateau Frontenac and the calm St. Lawrence. With the large windows there are curtains and shutters that block out light and city life if preferred. No other Hotel or Bed in the Breakfast has such a stunning view(so worth it!)! I will come again and again! The owners are really great, they informed us on restaurants (the good restaurants not the tourist traps) and also pointed us to bakeries and tourist points that are fully worth the money. Chococrepe, Le Dorsay, and Café Buade were fantastic, worth every penny. I had a physical disability that limited my movement and found everything great even with the stairs! There is a breakfast/sitting room and the breakfast was amazing! Fresh croissants! Yogurt, ham, various cheeses, cereal, coffee, juice, and milk. 4 of us stayed there and found it so comfortable, the beds are surprisingly comfy and with soft cover duvets. Excellent service! I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone, it is the PRIME location and the owners are friendly and very welcoming.

Room Tip: Choose the Governor's Suite as it has the amazing view!

Great staff, clean rooms, inviting and great character. Right in the heart of old quebec, a quick walk to the wall, a lot of great restaurants. Even better night views steps away.

Facilities were private and clean.

To bad it rained during our stay...off to nfld!
