Across the street from aux Anciens Canadiens is a very good Italian restaurant with a French flavor. The interior walls are stripped down to the original brick and stone. The atmosphere is somewhat modern with jazz playing in the background. One of the meals I had was a risotto with duck confit, dried cranberries, and goat cheese. The waiter informed me that gouda cheese was used that evening. It was delicious as well as the french onion soup -- lots of cheese in it. The wait staff is very helpful and courteous. However, some of the tables are in dark areas and a flashlight to see the menu would be helpful. On my bi-annual visits to Quebec I always make a point to eat here during my stay.
