“wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Great hotel! Great Staff! Nice, clean, and stylish rooms. Wasn't bothered by airplane noise at all. Tips for those who want to go downtown but don't want to drive: take the hotel's free shuttle to the airport. Go into the airport and buy a bus (747)pass which can be upgraded to an all day bus and metro-subway pass for $9 per day or $18 for three days. Hop on the 747 for a 30-45 minute drive to the downtown. ask to be let out at the nearest stop to Dorchester Square and then find the Tourist Information center where you can get free maps and buy tickets to the Grayline tour bus. I would highly recommend the Grayline ($52 per person for day pass for hop on hop off) so that you can become aware of the different parts and the history of Montreal. Then explore once you know where things are at. One mistake I made was assuming that the 747 back to the airport followed the same route as coming into the city---it doesn't, you must get on the westbound 747 . Bus stops are all along the Rene Levesque Boulavard. Look for the 747 sign at the bus stops. They run every 30 minutes. Remember that the drive back will be longer during rush hour.

This was a great place to stay, despite being an airport hotel in the midst of a construction zone. We decided to stay at this hotel to save money, and getting into downtown Montreal takes a little bit of time, but you have good options.

First of all, the staff, all fully bilingual in French and English, were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was high up and faced the airport, and I enjoyed watching the planes takeoff and land. The room was large and comfortable, and after two long days of touring, it was a relief to return to a place where we felt right at home.

If you are a tourist to Montreal, ask the front desk staff the best way to get into town. They suggested that we take the hotel shuttle to the terminal, and take the 747 bus from the terminal right into downtown. This is a terrific value, as the round trip fare on the bus allows you to also use the metro around town. You can also drive into downtown, and I noticed plenty of public car parks (for a fee, of course) but be mindful of traffic and also be aware that every major highway in Montreal has construction.

Getting to and from the hotel by car is a bit tricky. If you are approaching from downtown or from Dorval, suspend your intuition, because it won't do any good. To arrive at the hotel from these directions, you will have to cut across the Best Western Hotel parking lot to arrive at the Fairfield Inn. Be sure to ask the hotel staff for good directions on how to get on and off the highways and roads nearby.

Speaking of Dorval, it's just south of the hotel, and once you cross the highway 20, you are in a charming neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and shopping, and if you venture to the riverside, a park with a trail along the water.

Overall, this is a great place to stay. You'll save money over the downtown hotels (parking is $12 per day here), but it is an investment in time to get into the city. If your business is in the airport area or Dorval, I highly recommend.

Room Tip: If you like planes, ask to face the airport. If you like trains, face the tracks. Be mindful that th...

This hotel is great, we go there once a year on a rail fans holiday...you have a choice face the airport, or the railroad. Of course as rail fans we chose to face the railroad 4 railroads pass right by here the CN, the CP VIA and AMT. Staff is awesome (cant say enough great about them) breakfast is great too (miss the waffles, but like the bacon and home fries). yes construction is a hassle but temporary. I cant wait for our trip in august 2013....Happy Rail Fan

Room Tip: area dining is good, limited if you don't do you research. been going there for 5 years now and...

We use this hotel for our Montreal weekend away, 4 years in a row now. We then drive to the last stop on the subway and avoid the traffic. This place is clean, the staff are terrific and the air conditioning is fabulous. Breakfast is great and unlike the Courtyards they still offer free coffee in the lobby. The only downside is trying to get there. The construction has and I suspect will continue to go on for years, but once you find it you will enjoy it.

Room Tip: Airport view is nice if you like looking at planes

This hotel is right near the Dorval Airport. Due to weather problems, our flight was cancelled. We got the last room at this hotel and it was great... We had stayed here before so we knew what to expect.
Hotel location is great.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Rooms are clean and quiet.
Shuttle service to and from the airport.
The towels in the bathroom were 'very thin' and I don't believe are up to The Marriot Family standards but they did the job.
Breakfast comes with your room and it does the trick. Toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, some type of eggs - all help yourself. My only complaint for breakfast was they didn't have 'white' bread for toast - why??
One other thing... the alarm clock on the radio went off in the middle of the night... This has happened to us more than once in different hotels... Why do people leave alarms on when they have vacated a room? It's not funny. I think the cleaning staff might want to check alarm clocks when setting up a room for new guests...

Room Tip: The noise from the airport is not a problem on either side of the hotel so don't worry about tha...

Service at this hotel was amazing. Very large rooms with excellent and new facilities and wonderful breakfast. The rooms are large, bright, very clean with great water pressure for the showers. I stayed here on a recent trip with family to visit Montreal. The hotel is approximately a 1 hour bus trip down to the center of Montreal - there is quiet a bit of traffic and lots of construction in the area. While there is no direct bus from the hotel, the hotel does offer a complimentary shuttle to the airport where you can board the 747 bus to Montreal. Grab a unlimited 3 day pass at the airport for unlimited bus and metro hop on and off for $18 bucks! There is also a train station nearby (Dorval) but I am not sure of the train frequency. This train is not linked to the metro. Customer service is great - very helpful at all hours of the day and night. There is a $12 fee to park at the hotel but I suppose that is to eliminate people from parking there as long term parking for the airport. The breakfast is excellent with both hot and cold options - get there early to avoid the crowds. Th

Difficult to get to right now because of road construction, a $12 charge for parking, and the breakfast area is too small and congested. Nevertheless, the rooms are very nice and the staff are very helpful. If you have Marriott rewards points this is a great place to use them. since it is a level #2 and the rooms are much nicer than that.
