I was staying at the Hilton Bonaventure, so I looked for a steak & frites restaurant near it. I found this which had several locations and chose what i thought was the one nearest to us: Steak Frites St Paul, as in the review both on Trip Advisor and Yelp. I called the number given in Trip Advisor, made a reservation, thinking it was the one nearest to me according to the map. Lo and behold, my (Black) granddaughter and I get there, tell the host I have a reservation for two at 7:30 and he says, "Not here, you don't!", without even asking for my name. He insisted that my reservation was at the St. Paul location, without even knowing my name! That restaurant was a few miles away, and we had walked, in a snow storm, the six blocks to get to this one on St Anthony. He insisted that we get to the other one and it was already 7:30pm. My granddaughter was starving, and it was still so far. We walked another block, got a cab, and paid $6+ tip to get to the one in St. Paul. When we got there, the girl didn't seem to have a reservation for us either, but as I insisted, she miraculously, found a table at the back of the restaurant. We sat, ordered our meals, and soon after, another Black couple was ushered in, and sat right next to us! Hmm! Interesting. There is a section just for Black folks!
Our food began to soon come. A wilted salad, a tasteless steak, limp fries that were supposed to be "all you can eat", but no one came to offer us fresh ones. My glass of water was never refilled! Overall, this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Expensive and below par. Don't waste your money, especially if you are Black!
