Had been here in October 2012, enjoyed it, decided to go back on our latest trip to Montreal, May 20, sad to say, severely disappointed. For starters, the male server seemed rather aloof and arrogant, seemingly indifferent to our needs, which were few. Something as simple as the request for a straw was never fulfilled, never got the opportunity to make a second request, as he never returned until the meal was complete and the check was presented. Never inquired as to whether or not a refill of drinks was needed, or if dessert was desired. Mind you, this was not in the middle of a rush period, it was around 5:00 pm, and the restaurant was nowhere near full. As for the food, it definitely was not as we remembered it on our first trip here in October, 2012. We ordered reuben sandwiches, as we did last time, and was very disappointed. The quantity of the meat was definitely not the same as last time, and nowhere near the representation of pictures I have seen specific to this restaurant. The restaurant was not crowded enough to ascertain if it was just our sandwiches that were deficient, but they definitely were much lighter than in October, just 7 months ago. Anyway, I don't know if our poor service was a result of a poor server with an attitude, or directed to us specifically because we are from the states, but it was enough that we will never return to this establishment and will dissuade others from doing so as well. We had much better luck at the various ethnic restaurants, both on St. Catherines St. and in Chinatown. Better service, great food, excellent service, the exact opposite of our experience at Reubens.
