“Cheap tourist food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Very average food, geared to tourists. It's really too bad, as the setting is excellent. Outdoor eating in a fully covered terrasse, with inverted "umbrellas" that funnel any rain away from diners. I suppose they have to do this to survive, as they rely on the summer crowds to survive. Worth a try for the experience, but not sure I would eat there again as a couple. A good choice for families, as prices are reasonable for Old Montreal.

“Beautiful Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Sat outside on the veranda on a beautiful day in July. I ordered the beet salad and it was delicious. The setting is beautiful and they had a jazz band playing. Great place to grab a light lunch and a glass of wine while walking around the old port in Montreal.

“Decor Merveilleux”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Jardin Nelson is conveniently located in Vieux-Port of Montréal. The food is decent, but the venue is very pretty. The melon Sangria is very good. When friends are visiting the city, when in the Old Port, I suggest Jardin Nelson as price are reasonable, food is decent and the venue usually wins them over! I would recommend and would visit again, although not the best meal ever. (mostly crepes)

“Beautiful setting, tasty food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

This was our first meal on our girls weekend away in Montreal. Having read about the lovely setting, we thought we'd hit it up though it was in a touristy district. The interior is filled with a variety of plants and flowers making it feel like you're eating in someone's private garden.

We all ordered a different type of crepe. My friend had the Forestière which was by far the best, filled with sauteed mushrooms. I had signature Nelson with sauteed apples, bacon and maple syrup - it was nice, but I'd definitely recommend savory over sweet. The four of us shared a few pitchers of sangria, and had a wonderful evening out.
