On a recent business trip to Montreal, I wandered about looking for a restaurant in which to have supper. The problem in Montreal isn't finding a restaurant, as there are gazillions of them, but trying to pick one out of the crowd. Being in the mood for Indian, I chose Buffet Maharaja, which I stumbled upon in my wanderings.
The restaurant itself is nothing particularly special. It's the typical dining area with standard Indian decorations, more or less, and being a buffet, service consists mainly of drink service and the clearing of plates when you make that second trip to the buffet that you probably don't really need. That being said, the service I had was very good. The waiter was very friendly, took my drink order promptly, and delivered my drink quickly. Off to the buffet.
There is a decent variety of food available at the buffet, but it neither disappointed me nor excited me. Everything I had was good, but nothing made me think "Wow!" I can't really think of anything about this restaurant that makes it stand above other Indian buffet restaurants I've visited. The service is good, the food is good, the atmosphere is good, and I would go there again. Good, but not exciting.
